Other people will point out this stuff but I just want you to remember that he makes that circle shape with his fingers and then keeps moving them like a venus flytrap when he talks

Bluesky has been gentrifying, and what we've been getting is like the people who move into a flat over a gig venue in the city centre because it's "so vibrant!" and then get the venue shut down because of the noise.

More in No, Other People: New poll: “America would be better off if more people worked in manufacturing.” • 80% of Americans agree • 20% disagree “I would be better off if I worked in a factory.” • 25% of Americans agree • 73% disagree • 2% currently work in a factory

Soul Coughing at the Eastern tonight.

Remember, “I was just following orders” didn’t work at Nuremberg after WWII and it won’t work here later.

This is how it should be done.

Just the knowledge that a refuge exists would be a huge weight lifted off our shoulders. I’m worried for my loved one all the time, this would allow us to help her develop an escape plan.

Gonna take this opportunity to say that I can personally deliver no script for as little as 7 million, and I know some other writers who can do it for as little as five million.

The 10% tariff alone is a $2500 per household annual tax hike!

Yes! Let them be afraid each and every time that This judge will hold them in contempt and This sheriff will put them in jail. Make them do the illegal things, because every lawless action increases the likelihood of consequences. Do not surrender in advance, especially the surrender of hope.

Truer words were never spoken. A 90 day pause that could be reversed at whim is not “certainty”.

That’s both awesome and scary. The idiots will make up reasons for the weird stuff in your pockets. But the whole time they are cataloguing your interesting rock and bottle cap collection, they aren’t arresting someone else. Make it difficult for them.

Let's start wondering it loudly

And here it is. If your client demands that you take unethical actions, and your employer won’t or can’t fire the client, you leave. Your career is more valuable than your paycheck.

I’m here to learn, which is why I follow so many reporters and scientists. But I am also here to enjoy myself, which is why people who are nasty or disrespectful or dispiriting doomers get blocked. Maybe I am limiting my reach, but maybe I am happier with that limited reach.

And there it is.

Anecdotally, fucking spot on

Reading an article about a struggling restaurant. Not going to name them, but they are known for skimpy waitress outfits. I don’t need to read the analysis. When your restaurant makes me feel pervy and makes me sick Every. Single. Time. I eat there, yeah, I have ideas about why you are struggling.

Sorry, but it isn’t a difficult decision. Quit your job and be a lawyer, or do your job and lose your license to practice law. They have to choose between their job and their career. Ditch the job. There are document review gigs available until you find a public defender or prosecutor to work for.

Hey Gumroad folks...

I really do think a lot of the backlash to yesterday is pure cope from people who are really struggling with how an organization they either hadn’t heard of or didn’t take seriously turned out millions of people in thousands of protests and they can’t get that to happen

I’m a woke globalist.

If there's no plan and Trump really is a braying idiot with acute narcissistic personality disorder—if they're winging it based on one corrupt liar's impulses—then political commentators who've discussed Trump and MAGA as if there's a plan that You Just Don't Get were wrong. And we can't have that.

Canadian govt are warning their citizens against traveling to the United States by saying to expect hostility and scrutiny at the border. Please don’t travel here, we are undergoing a fascist totalitarian takeover, your safety depends on it. Rooting for our friends in Canada.

The Stock Market is falling so hard that it's liable to end up buried in a weed covered plot on one of Trump's golf courses.

Bruce MacKinnon, the editorial cartoonist at the Halifax Chronicle-Herald, drew this last November. No newspaper would print it. It now deserves an outing.

Waiting for my car to be fixed at the dealer, Scripps News, which I've never watched, is playing in the waiting room. It's a little rough but my overall impression is positive. It seems like a good channel for people looking for "just the news." There is no "infotainment."

Someone shared with me this running list of law firms' responses to the Trump admin lawlessness: those who caved, those who just comply in advance, and those who fight. Apparently maintained by a bunch of law students. I have no idea who's behind it, by I admire them. Excellent work!

💯 no notes

🚨Georgetown University Law Center students are detailing which law firms have caved and which have stood up to the Trump regime. They have created this spreadsheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets... Please share widely.

People will say this is the result of a presidential election, and that’s partly true. But the Constitution does not delegate tariff power to the president, and he is only able to impose these ruinous, peace-destroying taxes because Congress has let him do so. Congress can end this at any time.
