It occurs to me that my fifth book, In Code, should get a new lease on life. Most of its poems were born during the previous Evil Days. Here's a poem about the sort of thing that happens when people fear and despise the "deep state."

We have sadly forgotten that liberal democracy imposes those constraints PRECISELY BECAUSE it had to fight for its existence against systems of unchecked power. Democracy in the modern West was almost literally defined by preventing abuses of power that would otherwise simply happen all the time.
