Sure it's iconic, but New York's NYE celebrations are pretty lame compared to fireworks shows across cities like London, Taipei, Sydney, and Hong Kong. It only fits a small viewing audience and all you get is some 30 seconds of confetti.

Taking the high speed rail from Kaohsiung to Taipei, a distance equivalent to NYC to Fairfax, VA (a bit further out from DC), a ride just 1.5 hours long. Makes American rail infrastructure look like an absolute joke. Lately, it's a miracle if NE Corridor trains even run properly.

Tried a new pay by pound, one bowl, "hot pot" spot where you pick whatever ingredients you want, tell them your preferred broth, and they cook it into a giant bowl. Not bad though I'm terrible with Asian spice. 🥵
