#HorrorWritersChat Speaking as someone who is generally pretty okay at following my own advice… I’m following my own advice

#HorrorWritersChat I’m an absolute sucker for “the people in the charming European town we’re visiting are all cultists” but I think the one that would actually do me in is “car breaks down somewhere unfortunate”

#HorrorWritersChat I would like to say “the crawlspace in the closet” except that we stayed in a B&B that had one once and I didn’t realize it was there until my husband brought it to my attention when we left. What I’m saying is: I’m absolutely getting murdered by the guy in the crawlspace

Late to the party but hi, #HorrorWritersChat! I’m Mattie, I write folk horror, gothic horror, and erotic horror—among other things. I’m from St. Louis, MO, which imho is a deeply underrated city as far as ghost stories go. We’ve got some real good ones.

Actually I know exactly what it says about me, and what it says is I have fully boiled my brains in a heady stew of gothic fiction

Idk what it says about me but the two twists I can call most reliably in stories are “character is actually the Devil” and “these characters are doing incest”

4 Types of characters I write: 1. Sad 2. Horny 3. Sad and horny 4. Sad, horny, and angry

Negl this societal attitude has fucked me up for a long time because I love romance! But I want to be taken seriously as an artist! But I know I will not be taken seriously as an artist writing romance. Sucks.

I think they’re just mad that it’s more popular than what they write and they have a delusion that the people reading romantasy would clearly be reading their stuff if it weren’t for the romantasy
