As we all know, whiffing is that thing in baseball where you watch the ball go by and don't swing at it. You sized up the pitch and decided it posed an existential threat to democracy, but you'd probably get a strike. So you encourage the crowd to vote blue next election instead.

they don't know what to do because they think winning elections is their job. if they had substantive ideals that they fought for, and winning elections was merely an instrument for achieving those ends, they'd know exactly what to do. they don't even realize this is a problem.

I don't know why I bother, but I just read the @nytimes.com blurbs from 6 voters about their reactions to Trump 2.0. Four voted Trump. One voted third party, and one voted Harris. The NYT calls that diverse. In reality, the editors were just fetishizing voters who switch parties.

I'm trying not to activate in response to the gross rage baiting behavior of the fascists so that I can keep my energy up for the big stuff. But goddamn that's dark. And if somebody wants to punch this up a bit, please do, but this isn't too fine a point, it's a razor blade
