LotR reference earns a repost.

Coercively demanding somebody sign something in a language they can't even read, and refusing to tell them what it is, is such openly Kafkaesque authoritarianism. These people are not a government, they are a criminal enterprise, much more accurately described as "gang members" than their victims.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you. Senator Van Hollen lives this attitude – and planted hope in hopelessness. (I’m not crying, you’re crying.)

The Last Buffet

LMAO This is the future liberals want!

And his family knows that he's alive.

For the record

Telling my job I unfortunately have to increase my salary to offset the tariffs

you have college kids speaking up knowing they could be sent to a gulag and these absolute cowards cant even offer light criticism from their senate offices

The images of CECOT function two ways. For people with empathy, they see evidence of a crime against humanity. But for people without empathy, they work as pro-Trump propaganda. What Trump’s enablers have tried to ignore are the images that show these men before CECOT, because they drive empathy

The United States has three branches of government: 1. The guy who does whatever he wants 2. The people too scared to stop him 3. The courts he openly ignores

Roger Parloff on the "evidence" that Abrego Garcia is a gang member: "It's double hearsay stemming from a document written by somebody indicted for misconduct."

WOW. One of the Venezuelans whom Kristi Noem tried to render to El Salvador's slave prison managed to avoid removal and was able to make it to immigration court, and you'll never guess what happened: THE GOVERNMENT GAVE NO EVIDENCE OF HIS GANG MEMBERSHIP. Due process ftw

the american electoral system is basically 500,000 information-resistant people across a handful of states taking a guess and then going "haha! oops!" every two years. this process takes 18 months and costs four trillion dollars every time

Wonder how you lose your democracy? Proactively giving legitimacy to peddlers of disinformation is definitely near the top of the list.

I always suspected that the best way to lower grocery prices was to focus intently on removing Harvard University’s tax-exempt status.

I'd rather be a smart, kind autistic person than an insane fascist.

Imagine if we had autonomous taxis at scale in the US now. You think you're going home after a long workday and *whoosh* off to a black site with you.
