Zohran Mamdani’s win has inspired over 3400 young people to raise their hands to run for office just since Tuesday. It’s now @runforsomething.net’s biggest candidate recruitment moment since the election. A new generation of leaders is here.

First, most people never think about immigrants. They just like that the work gets done. Second, many people remember Ellis Island and don’t know it is now all but impossible to legally immigrate without red tape. Third, snatching the ice cream man forces people to make a choice.

I'm hardly any sort of leftist but I am 100% here for Dem primary voters wrecking the Dem establishment in our current moment. Good job, New York.

I see many folks making many uncaveated claims about what happens next. I also see the best and most seasoned experts admitting that they don’t know what’s coming—and advising us not to buy what such fully confident pundits are selling. Trust the latter view. We’re in largely uncharted territory.

Ideally, a country should be led by a person that understands that other people are real.

This is exactly the right tone when privileged people suffer minor or temporary consequences standing up for powerless people. It’s still about the powerless people. ICE is Gestapo trash.

Get in losers. We're building a popular front.

There is a maximum amount of time each day you're supposed to focus on the world's problems instead of your own, after which you have a legitimate need for therapy on your thought processes being self-destructive. At some point you have to stop scrubbing your hands you are bleeding into the sink.

I do not fear the rise of super intelligence. I do, however, fear the rapacious power of the individuals and companies who seek to build, own, and control such artifacts.

California is America, but sooner. [Manuel Pastor's line.] LA is California turned up to 11. [Nigel Tufnel.] publiccomment.blog/p/los-angele...

I think this is correct. Most racists sincerely believe everyone else is just as racist as they are and are just too cowardly to openly express it.

"AI will solve all the problems AI creates or makes worse, but we don't know how" is a very good reason to be skeptical of many of the current companies and leaders in the space.

Blink. Go outside. Touch grass. Play a game. Paint a picture, sing a song, dance in the rain. Embrace joy and all that is good in the world. You can do all that and still fight tooth and nail for every inch of ground. The idea that you must personally witness everything is toxic bullshit.

Regular people have NO IDEA the stuff we obsess over every day is happening.

AI: what if everything was shitty but convenient in the manner of a gas station hot dog?

I’ve had a similar idea for a while. Have a common tech platform and a few editors from successful independent media like TPM or the Nevada Independent and I think we’d really have something.

And it won’t cost him a single Republican confirmation vote.
