My admin and pta are amazing. But also, is it teacher appreciation week in Chapel Hill without a Merritt’s BLT? It’s always better to teach when BLT’s are involved.

We’re in the perfect four weeks in Chapel Hill. Warm during the day, cool at night, the bugs aren’t out yet, it’s Strawberry season at the farmers market and my roses are soaking it all up. ❤️

5th grade update- also why teaching is not for the weak. Normal job- meeting runs late you adjust your lunch but you still get lunch. 5th grade today smeared blue food dye all over playground equipment. my 20 minutes for lunch disappeared while we watched cameras, wrote it up & washed kids down.

Happy Last Day of Class to everyone who celebrates in Chapel Hill. We had some YoPo and sat outside to enjoy this weather.

Prom tonight! And the oldest child had an amazing time! And as a mom of a rising senior, fly little bird, fly. But also, there is no peace like having everyone safely tucked in under the same roof. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Needed a last minute boutinniere. Neighbor recommended the very nice lady at our Lowe’s (Grocery, not hardware). I went in after work and she had been off the clock in floral for two hours and was working at the cash register. But… 1/2

I had to leave Chapel Hill this morning to go to the countries busiest Costco and it was as expected a nightmare. I just wanted to get back to my little corner of Chatham County and not interact with people for the rest of the day.

Just finished teaching his daughter’s biography “Promises to Keep.” Learned as much as my students. I had this quote turned into a poster: “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” American hero.

Absolutely gorgeous night in Chapel Hill. Love people watching around graduation (it’s a see of Carolina Blue tonight). Of all the places we’ve lived… this is the best. ❤️

Read my statement on the Supreme Court's decision to selectively disenfranchise members of the military serving our country, military families, foreign service officers, missionaries, and other NC voters who faithfully followed the rules communicated to them in the 2024 election:

Started “Hatchet” with my 5th graders today. Announced we would have no work associated with it. Just reading the book for the pleasure and the kids were amazed and announced it was more “fun” to read this way. I forgot I could do that. mental note for next year. Book clubs w/ no work, just joy.

Watching Geno… all the feels. (Also a huge Staley fan. Anyone but Mulkey)

Disappointed to turn on the women’s national championship to hear a freshman fifteen joke. So many positives but we’re going to perpetuate that

I’d like to say, world on fire, but my dad has been at Beaufort Memorial Hospital for twelve days. And I can say, I wish this experience on no other family. Meds withheld, meds not given, meds changed, refusal to follow doctor’s orders. I feel like I am in alternate universe.

🚨🚨Calling all North Carolina voters!! Here is a list of every voter that Jefferson Griffin is trying to disenfranchise, please if you are a NC voter check to see if your name is on here, you have 15 days to cure your ballot to make sure your vote counts. thegriffinlist.com/assets/griff...

“Heartland” is the best NCIS episode ever. I will not be taking further questions at this time.

Just left “Six” at Northwood and was at “Anastasia” @seaforththeatre.bsky.social Thursday. What an amazing arts weekend in Chatham County. So, so proud of these kids and their teachers. Making art happen all across the district.

Growing up in UCONN Huskies territory adequately prepared me for a move to Chapel Hill…where they rival Connecticut for the unhinged Duke hatred. And I’m here for it.

Anyway, very niche thread… It’s the two weeks of the year in Chapel Hill when you can have your classroom windows open and the game on the panel in the classroom.

👊🏻

Where was I radicalized???? Watching the March girls give their Christmas breakfast to the Hummel Family. Because even Little Women was written, the power of taking care of our communities and immigrant families was a virtue, part of our history and embedded as a truly American value.

I don’t know a lot about the complex mechanisms of Social Security but I do know… when my father retired it took them TWO years to adjust his benefits bc they were already short staffed and backlogged from covid. So just saying…. Maybe reducing the workforce by 2/3 isn’t a genius idea.
