This is like watching Brexit polls. Cleary in favour of the option that the constituent population did not choose when presented with the actual choice. Do we have to do everything badly just to learn how to do it better?

Every accusation this irredeemable piece of human garbage makes is projection. Every single one. www.dw.com/en/ukraine-u...

I seem to have got this far and only just absorbed that Zelenskyy (the Ukrainian President) has a double-y at the end of his name. I’d have written that a hundred times and probably checked how to spell Volodymyr each time but never doubted his surname. Not that he cares but sorry mate.

It is so hard to get through to people that before food stamps, kids starved. Before meat inspections, kids died. Before vaccines, kids died. You're choosing to kill children to save a buck & you refuse to see it because it's not real to you

Beyond irritated at facing unskipable adverts on streaming services I'm paying (considerable) money for. Amazon Prime is becoming unwatchable.

This.

Apropos of nothing for #Shetland Times readers.

Billie vs Ollie. Eilish’s hat is having a spat. Shame she didn’t get the Grammy but could Jamiesons no send her a Wool Week toorie and make this a positive connection.

✍️Despite being the world's biggest oil producer, America is v reliant on Canadian oil. And getting MORE reliant, not less. So what happens when tariffs get imposed on Canada? The answers are quite unsettling, for the American people... and for everyone else edconway.substack.com/p/america-st...

It’s all shiny new over here at @bsky.app and everyone’s giving up on Twitter but, just in case you were wondering, I can report that one of the other exit rafts - LinkedIn - appears to be turning into Facebook. “I like business thing.” “How dare you not agree with my preference for other thing”.

I wonder about the sample group who submit to these Shetland Times polls. I suspect they’re wildly unrepresentative but somehow wildly varied at the same time. The success/failure of Shetland's bus service has nothing to do with the motive power type and everything to do with SIC service decisions.

Like often with #Shetland Times energy items, the element missing from this 'splash' is input from anyone who has the slightest clue what they're talking about. "Slashed" implies intervention rather than the actually applying market mechanisms. I might suggest "Fall" would have been closer.

Hahaha. wait… That’s maybe as good an idea actually. Starting the campaign to make this the plan for next year. #UpHellyAa #Shetland #Modernisation

Still brukit after #UpHellyAa. Another great year with the Vidlin Squad. My legs are definitely feeling the burn and am probably twitching NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye dance in my sleep. Well done everyone. Same again next year... #Shetland #OldFaithfull

Guizer Jarl Calum Grains leads the Jarl Squad through Lerwick in Shetland during the Up Helly Aa festival! 🔥

The Welsh told the Saxons this hill was called "pen" (meaning "hill"). The Saxons added their word for hill, "tor," and called it Torpen (hill hill). Later the Norse added their world for hill. So it became Torpen Haugr (Hill Hill Hill). Now the English call it Torpenhow Hill (Hill Hill Hill Hill)

We were in Man U end but a lot of Rangers fans had clearly cadged home tickets. As you’d expect reaction to equaliser (glee/open singing) and as you’d expect reaction to Bruno winner (abuse/throwing).

How is this the windfarms responsibility?

if you need to get away from American politics then you could do worse than to investigate the critical scientific debate occurring whether frozen water is ice. 🤔 (No but Yes) @jlp.systems has a related view. Other views may be available. 🧊🚰

Not that we really needed more Nazi parallels, this is the modern equivalent of book burning.

Not sure I can manage 4 more years of social media like this. Trying BlueSky after giving up on other platforms. It's been ok, certainly more rational, but even here proving difficult to avoid overload of Mango Mussolini. 🍊 Muting helps but still… p.s. it was totally an unthinking fascist salute.

This.

If you don’t fancy watching the Inauguration tonight we are showing 24 hours in police custody at the same time which we aren’t saying is connected in any way shape or form…

Hard to think of a more applicable word than hypocrisy to read this commentator bemoaning misinformation when she swallowed and regurgitated every piece of Facebook garbage about windmills going. Evidently only cares about suspecting social media drivel when she doesn't need to rationalise a bias.

Sorry but most schools have a mixed-use field/space at best. That this school can’t afford a new (replacement?) hockey pitch deserves no sympathy. This inequality is why private schools need taxed. Once all education is at an acceptable level then the rich can buy extras beyond that if they want.

Random replies to random posts occasionally give insight to views held by others. Unfortunately the main insight I took from the below was the mental note to refer to my son’s upper Primary class as “high grade imbeciles”. I’m a bad person.
