⚡️ High-ranking Russian general killed in car bombing near Moscow. “According to available data, the explosion occurred as a result of the detonation of a homemade explosive device,” the Investigative Committee of Russia said.

Besides causing deaths and suffering worldwide, kneecapping US leadership across industries, destroying decades of research, appropriating data, and killing thousands of American jobs, there’s this

Every time I almost forget the damage this man did - with Brexit, during the pandemic, in terms of public confidence - up he pops to remind me how loathsome he is. Failures like him and Truss used to at least have the decency to disappear from public life. Now, they just grift even harder.

NEW: Avelo Airlines is facing backlash after it signed an agreement to carry out deportation flights. A letter from Connecticut’s AG cited ProPublica’s reporting on ICE Air flight attendants, who said it was unclear how shackled detainees would get off a plane in an emergency. By @mckenziefunk.com

Americans Believe Russian Disinformation ‘To Alarming Degree’ "Republicans were, though, more likely to believe Russian disinformation claims than their Democratic counterparts, with 57.6% falling for at least one Russian disinformation claim, compared with just 17.9% of Democrats."

“‘The endowment may be smaller four years from now than it is today, but Harvard will survive Trump,’ predicted Daniel Hemel, an NYU tax law professor. ‘If it could survive the Revolutionary War, it’s going to make it through Trump.’”

🔴 The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people opposes any proposals or actions aimed at recognizing Crimea and Sevastopol as part of Russia—neither de facto nor de jure.

Incredible satellite image of the 33 (!!!!) operational fossil fuel combustion engines at the site of Elon Musk's XAI data centre “appalling that xAI would operate more than 30 methane gas turbines without any permits or any public oversight" @selc.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Drain the swamp!

(1/4) It was America and Britain that guaranteed the sovereignty of Ukraine and its borders in return for persuading them to give up their nuclear weapons.

The markets seem persuaded that we have passed the peak of Trump tariff lunacy. But the path down Mount Stupid is likely to be long and bumpy while much of the damage will be permanent. My latest

If it turns out that US trade negotiators are misinforming Trump about the extent of progress in talks with China and the EU, you have to wonder about how honest Witkoff and Rubio are being with Trump about the trajectory of talks with Iran and Russia

Yesterday, Trump begged Putin to “STOP!” Last night, Russia attacked Ukraine with 103 kamikaze drones. Trump is weak and pathetic. Putin delights in humiliating his American puppet.

But Kamala was problematic, congratulations Jill Stein and nonvoters

It seems odd that if the President has the “inherent” authority in Article II, as understood by the Framers, to summarily remove people from the country, that Congress would felt the need to pass the Alien Enemies Act in the first place, merely 10 years after the Constitution was ratified 🤔

THREAD: There’s a dire situation in Vietnam, at the largest Agent Orange spill in the country. When Trump and Marco Rubio cancelled foreign aid, froze funding and began dismantling USAID, those who were cleaning up the Bien Hoa air base had to halt work. 1/

I mean.

People need to be crystal clear about something: The requirement that the government ANSWER to a court on the legal basis for detaining someone is literally the core liberty right (habeas corpus). If the government says they don’t have to do that bc “national security,” YOU can be disappeared.

Compared to Europe, the US has weak environmental and climate regulations, but strong science. Now what has worked is ripped apart. The American population will be exposed to more pollution and health risks and the whole 🌎 will suffer due to less knowledge. It is 💔 to watch this play out.

Judge Alsup is not amused by reports that people he ordered reinstated were put on admin leave. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

If this is right, you can see Putin’s play, the outlines of which have been obvious for some time. Make a demand European powers (let alone Ukraine) will be extremely reluctant to accept. Drive an even bigger wedge US and Europe... www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Breaking news: Brussels has proposed buying weapons collectively on behalf of EU member states, in what would be a major shift in decision-making power in response to Donald Trump’s policies. www.ft.com/content/2914...

#Measles is reported in 15 states: TX, NM, CA, GA, KY, NY, NJ, RI, AK, VT, PA, FL, WA, MD and OK. @todayshow.com www.today.com/video/measle...

Right now in Ukraine. A Russian ballistic missile threat for the whole country. Let’s be very clear about who is not interested in peace or in “stoping shooting”… Russia!

“The war has sublimated the rage seething beneath the surface to the needs of national security. But once Israelis stop fighting Hamas in Gaza, they will inevitably turn their sights on their own leadership,” @yair-rosenberg.bsky.social writes:

The next time anyone tries to argue that this administration is cutting wasteful spending…

A 10-year-old U.S. citizen girl recovering from brain cancer, was detained at an immigration checkpoint while heading to an emergency medical checkup and promptly deported. Thanks to Trump and Musk. www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/...

Maybe someday, women in America will have as many rights as Cybertrucks do.

This is their goal. Everything else is bullshit.

‼️ The issue at the centre of the lawsuit is a provision of the #constitution that says government officials who act/wield power as heads of departments are *principal officers* who can exercise that authority only if first nominated by the president and confirmed by the #Senate ‼️

🚨🚨Significant legal development: @coe.int has has adopted the first-ever international treaty aiming to protect the profession of lawyer. 🧵 www.coe.int/en/web/porta...

Reports Russia has now rejected the ceasefire, so lets see if this was just bluster.

Incredible times: a new poll shows that 46% of Canadians support becoming a member state of the European Union, with 17% of them strongly in favour. Meanwhile, 29% oppose the idea and 25% are unsure. Sample: 1,500 Canadian adults (20-25 February)

NEW: The Trump administration claims gutting federal agencies will save money, but cutting the IRS means the government collects less taxes. “If you’re interested in the deficit and curbing it, why would you cut back on the revenue side?” one expert asks. By @andykroll.bsky.social
