“You know what Elon Musk doesn’t seem to be looking into? His own contracts. ... Just last year, Elon Musk was promised $3 billion from close to 100 contracts with the federal government.”

Trump again proves he is focused on all the wrong things. These firings put his chaotic, short-sighted decision making norms on full display. Weakening our country by gutting the Pentagon only further demonstrates that he doesn’t put our national security first. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

NEW — 19-year-old DOGE engineer Edward Coristine turns out to be the grandson of former KGB spy Valery Martynov, who played a role in a sprawling 1980s espionage saga. www.jacobsilverman.com/p/prominent-...

"During the meeting, Ukraine was told it faced imminent shutoff of the Starlink service if it did not reach a deal on critical minerals, said the source, who requested anonymity to discuss closed negotiations." Astonishing betrayal of an ally. www.reuters.com/business/us-...

Donald Trump just fired a well-respected General who was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. And his Administration announced they’re replacing other officers, too. The purge of people of stature and independence goes on.

Whole lot harder for officers to disobey illegal orders if you fire their attorneys...

Just a reminder: Tomorrow night on CBS & BET, Kamala Harris, the woman who received over 75 million votes and was nearly elected president, will be making her first major public appearance since Trump took office as she receives the Chairman's Award at the NAACP Image Awards.

“I’ll be damned if I’m going to stand by or remain silent during this hostile takeover of our government and its rejection of what makes America a special place. There’s the America I know and love—and then there’s Trump’s America.” www.americaamerica.news/p/rooting-ag...

the stock market is now below where it was when Joe Biden left office

Agree with @brianbeutler.bsky.social here: The effort to use the 2024 outcome to cast Obama's politics as superior to Biden's (or the other way around) is largely a waste of time. Intra-Dem factional infighting isn't interesting, and it isn't even constructive. www.offmessage.net/p/theres-mor...

UPDATE: Judge Moss has ordered the administration NOT to remove eight foreign nationals who say they're fleeing persecution and death in their home countries (Afghanistan, Ecuador, Brazil) DOJ notes that one of them, identified as N.S., has already likely been removed. Details TK

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

1. Meta removed a Facebook ads criticizing Elon Musk's efforts to seize Americans' private information through DOGE. A notice from Meta said the ads violated its rules on "Unacceptable Business Practices."

Planes didn't crash when this guy ran things.

Today (2/17/25) at 11am Judge Tanya S. Chutkan will conduct a TRO (temporary restraining order) hearing in a challenge to the constitutionality of DOGE under the Appointments Clause (Art II, §2, cl 2). I’ll try to live-blog here for @lawfare.bsky.social . You can also phone-in yourself. ... /1

It’s very simple. #DontAbandonUkraine

Der Spiegel understood the assignment.

17 March 1944 | A Polish woman Helena Płotnicka (b. 1902), prisoner no. 65492 died in #Auschwitz of typhoid. She was a member of resistance active near the isolated camp area and was engaged in helping prisoners of the German camp. She smuggled food and messages for them.

In America we don’t bow to Kings or would be dictators. Today across the country people will actually gather to say NO. They want you to believe resistance is futile, that their power is inevitable. It’s not. History proves that people who stay engaged can change the course of events.
