Artist re-hired after AI turned out to be too expensive: I'm not sure any of these assets are usable Former prompt engineer still making $400k who is now her manager: grateful artist crop top doesn't talk back big boob big ass trending on hinge goes to work slut-style is single and has child's face

Why are so many adult men like this? Why can't they just talk to women like people? The idea that you have to be like this is entirely in your mind, you are not being asked to select every word with a forceps. "you look great today" is fine if you would also say it to a man who looked great.

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

This. People get confused because lots of Americans *self-identify* as rural, but do not live in and probably aren't even from small towns, or the country. And a lot of actual cities with tens of thousands of people identify as "small towns". The self-ID "rural" pop is mostly cosplaying city folk.

This is the little red town I'm from, teaching a child to sing "ain't no homo gonna make it to heaven". They very much care about your way of life, these folks. No, it's not everyone where I'm from but the majority either think like this or think this is fine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7OL...

I'd subscribe if I weren't already; Noah's writing is worth it if you like your journalism expert and independent.

I can't trust machine learning to work for me because I can't trust these machines to accurately tell me when I'm being a complete dipshit.

Right after the election I told a friend who felt like I was ditching the US by moving away that, worse comes to worst, it could be important to have expat voices who can be critical from the outside. I'm more and more sure it will be.

Yeah, this Gessen piece is really awful. It's just a way to dredge up Gessen's pre-existing critiques of higher education--many of which I broadly agree with--and paint them as "the way to fight Trump". We need people to stop just repainting their previous opinions with anti-Trump paint.

"we need a big tent to fight Trump" is true. but...like, the big tent can't include people who don't want to fight trump? 1

Yeah, this is the thing, I don't understand how the baby socialists have gotten to "actually the leftist position is to specifically bail out a specific demographic and ignore everything else".

you motherfuckers post constantly like you’re about to storm the bastille unlike those FECKLESS LIBERALS but clutch your pearls and head for the fainting couch at the suggestion of being strategic with policy so people don’t associate fascism with good times, you are softer than any centrist

there's nothing like getting deadnamed by a cis person who's otherwise gendering you correctly and consider themselves very liberal — because they happen to be mad at you, to understand how a cissylib thinks of transness

It's fascinating to work in a part of the world where things clearly peaked in terms of functionality and now is entering a decline because everything is owned by people who make less money if it works better. The internet was designed to be resistant to this.

I have a joke about Tantalus.
