bunny shaw scores and sends a message

Love and light to Bunny. We’re with you, always. 🖤🖤🖤

One of the only voices to connect the Kerr trial with the situation of ACTUAL racism not being properly dealt with re the Shaw incident

Listening to the latest EP of @diasporautdpod.bsky.social. I'm always grateful for their nuts and bolts discussions of roster call ups. Talk of a destroyer 6 had me yelling "BOXXY!" before 7 am in my apartment. Sorry not sorry, neighbors.

✊🏾NEW POD✊🏾 Courtney & André review the USWNT squad and spotlight key questions for each position group. Then [CW/TW, 46:01] we discuss the abuse of Bunny Shaw, Sam Kerr’s not guilty verdict, and Mapi León. 🟢 open.spotify.com/episode/3aSF... 🍎 podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d... #nwsl #uswnt #wsl

It’s a fact that none of the reforms that have occurred across women’s soccer in the U.S. and even worldwide don’t happen without Kaiya McCullough who was the genesis of the entire movement in 2021

Kaiya is the living definition of putting everything on the line to speak out to be a voice for the voiceless. To call it bravery is an understatement...none of this today happens without her telling her story and being the strongest foundation from which others could do the same.

Because it's National Girls and Women in Sports Day, instead of playing a part into the crusade on trans athletes, leagues and governing bodies need to focus on the well documented (!!!) threat to girls and women in sports: abuse. Athletes must be protected and abusers need to be kicked out

@diasporautdpod.bsky.social @courtneystith.com

It is National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Trans girls and trans women are girls and women, and should be able to play sports, at all levels, just like anyone else. They should be able to live and love and work and present however they choose. And I will stand in front of them to keep them safe.

Bit of a departure from our theme of highlighting Black creators and journalists as we honor Kaiya McCullough for her bravery in speaking publicly about what she and her teammates endured under Richie Burke at the Washington Spirit. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/...

None of this happens without Kaiya. I'm proud of her and proud to count her as a friend and lil sis.

André Carlisle is a writer and host who covers the Washington Spirit, and the global game. He somehow finds the time to host the Diaspora United, The District Press, and DRSFC podcasts. His newsletter is a must-read, and his BlueSky @838carlisle.bsky.social is a must-follow btvc.beehiiv.com

There are two podcasts I listen to regularly that I can truly say have made me a better person. @diasporautdpod.bsky.social is one of them.

Our #BHM hub is up on the front page, and we encourage all of you to chime in with your favorite #BlackSoccerHistory stories. Not just today, but throughout the month. We hope you read some or all of them and share them with your friends and networks. Black Soccer History IS Soccer History!
