Who are you quoting? I live in a country with sensible gun laws. Our over/under will be vastly different to yours. Proof gun laws work. Keep your head in the sand and don't answer the hard questions and you'll keep getting the same results, seems to be working for you guys... not.

In this case, say you might need to evac, you're told, chill, fires will be contained by the powers that be, maybe by those same people that defunded the fire dep, but the market says: nope get out. Who do you trust?

You're not looking at it the right way. Eg. U place a bet for the truth of climate change against an oil company, the outcome negatively affects people. All fair assertions may have negative consequences, what u need is truth and markets will find it.

I disagree, it's an extremely valuable prediction market. The only time people are honest is when they have money at stake. Compare polymarket to the polls, it was smack on for the election. Now with the 🔥, are they lying to you about containment? if so, those in the know will bet. Truth.

You mean in the 'observable universe'. 100% of the galaxies in the unobservabke universe are unreachable. Depending on the shape of the universe which is currently believed to be flat that means that 99.999*% of the galaxies are unreachable.

There must be some good (although sad) opportunities to make money in the betting market with climate change given the amount of denial. Although i bet most of them wouldn't put their money where their mouth is.
