Actors whose names could be Hideo Kojima characters: Gene Hackman Adam Driver Phoebe Waller-Bridge E.R. Fightmaster Taran Killam

Here's who we'd vote for, have fun out there folks 🏆 #oscars

While this month has mostly been a Johnnie To exhibition for me apparently, caught some absolute all-timers. Fav first time watches for Feb: Universal Language (2024) Umberto D. (1952) Rocco and His Brothers (1960) Running on Karma (2003) Senso (1954) Sparrow (2008)

Johnnie To as my mental health medication continues

Good morning fellow Ontarians

It’s okay that we dropped our episode late because it’s nearly 50% longer than our usual. When it’s Shape of Water you gotta go long!!

Johnnie To is helping me to navigate the mental health crisis that is my 2025 thus far.

Hey, here's a picture of Sam Peckinpah and Warren Oates on a boat reading "Female Sexual Fantasies" together:

I had this rattling around in my head all week

UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE is miraculous, a funny and humane fantasy of cultural exchange — I was delighted to find Matthew Rankin as hilarious and insightful in person as I’d hoped given the intensely surreal and cinematic qualities of this wonderful film: www.rogerebert.com/interviews/i...

Just watched JFK for the first time and I can feel every bone in my body aching for paranoia thrillers. I only want waters if they’re Dark All views must be Parallax My candidates just be Manchurian I need to get Blown Out no wait delete

the Mark Ruffalo movie about this, Dark Waters, is SO good

A day late but my last four watched are definitely leaning into this whole ‘romance’ idea…

Hell yes, an excellent interview on my favourite movie of the year so far. Yeah I know it’s only Feb but I watch a lot of movies, okay?

Us arriving to deliver good news for your Monday (it's that our episode on Pacific Rim is out today)

well duh he’s gotta shoot it at night

We're moving our full social media presence onto this platform--that's right, it's a move of solidarity against fascists! (Perfect segue alert) Speaking of solidarity against fascists, why not listen to our most recent episode kicking off our Guillermo Del Toro series with The Devil's Backbone?

Bouncing from Italian neorealism to Johnnie To’s Running on Karma may be the thing that finally causes me to permanently dissociate

“Rice is great for when you’re hungry and you want a thousand of something”

What a movie watching January. Watched some absolutely totemic stuff. Favourite first watches: Schindler’s list Paper Moon Rome, Open City The Best Years of our Lives Bicycle Thieves Killer Constable A Simple Plan

My favourite part of this is that the ellipsis in the quote is obviously there to cut text out of it but it reads like a wild pause for effect

Secret Movie Club was a nice warm-hearted treat for a negative 25 degree day. A NICE INDIAN BOY was truly, truly nice.

This was so successful that it’s time for another weekend of war dramas—more Rossellini and getting to see Schindler’s List on the big screen.

Tell me your favorite movie not many people know. As always I gotta champion The Wrong Guy. Dave Foley at his most beta, Jennifer Tilley classically hilarious, written by the best people behind early Simpsons and Kids in the Hall, full of SCTV and Canadian comedy royalty. Perfect idiot comedy.

Imagine if diamonds really were your best friend, how sad. Imagine if it really was raining men, how terrible. I think songs are just awful

I’ve been, as they say, “on one”

very funny that Sony’s current business plan is “incorrectly predict the future”

Harold Russell would have celebrated a birthday today #botd Pictured with the two Oscars he received for his performance in Wyler’s THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES (1946).

I love László Tóth’s architecture

Begun the Year of Luigi has

An auspicious movie weekend—a 1945 double bill of war dramas below—but more importantly the beginning of my year of deeply diving into Italian solidarity cinema. It’s time… for the Year of Luigi

The only royalty I respect

Many bangers, but Paper Moon has taken a commanding lead on favourite first time watches this year. We’ll see if it goes the distance!

“Biggest” is the funniest adjective choice

For … me? 😍😍😍

Checked off two major items that’ve been on my list forever + Two Shaw bros films = Good start to the year. I recommend starting your year with Master and Commander.

George Miller to the studio executives on every mad max movie:

Hahaha oh my god I had no idea that Master and Commander was also a 2-hour long chase scene. How did I program these movies so well when I knew effectively nothing about the 2nd movie???
