If you haven’t read James Baldwin. He has a perspective I think many of us need. He watched his friends be killed, for the civil rights movement, an entire generation let down and military. Then watched a full reversal in the election of Ronald Reagan.

I think the reason the changes to wicked that added to the run time worked, unlike remakes like Beauty and the Beast, is because they just expanded the story that was already told adding depth and context, rather than a new unnecessary plot point you have no time to explore.
