The death toll in Kryvyi Rih has reached 18, including 9 children following a russian missile strike. Currently, 56 people have been reported as injured, stated Oleksandr Vilkul, Head of the city's Defense Council.

Bart De Wever quite careslessy provokes the new BE government's first coalition fight over comments on Netanjahu international arrest warrant. Via @wort.lu www.wort.lu/internationa...

If Vooruit and les engages are serious, this should be the first crisis of the Belgian government. BE always advocated for multilateralism and its institutions. It was seen as a national interest. De Wever just broke with that.

Since the ECJ ruled that the European Parliament's anti harassment procedure against former MEP Monica Semedo was flawed, many EP staffers fear they'll have even less leverage on abusive bosses. Especially since the EP seems reluctant to reform the said procedure. www.wort.lu/politik/seme...

Donald Trump has committed the most profound, harmful and unnecessary economic error in the modern era. Almost everything he said—on history, economics and the technicalities of trade—was utterly deluded econ.st/3YbbFjq

Some reflections on how extraordinary the US dollar declines are today. Tariffs are supposed to strengthen the US dollar, not weaken it. But that is not what is happening here so far. 1/

Let’s be sure to call it what it is: It’s a punishment scheme for trade deficits in goods. This is not „transactional“. It’s vindictive.

"They hate our beef, because our beef is beautiful — and theirs is weak"

A lot of people confuse “regulation that businesses find annoying” with “regulation that impedes growth”. You could draw a nice Venn diagram if you like.

Research Paper by Martin Ruhs et al. @mpc-eui.bsky.social cadmus.eui.eu/handle/1814/...

Meanwhile, the ADR's position on Russia is becoming more radical. Kartheiser rejects the denomination "war of aggression" and calls it a “proxy war”. The party's recent pro-Kremlin turn has lead to Roby Mehlen, an ADR founding member, threatening to leave it. www.wort.lu/politik/adr-...

Some eye-poppingly bad views on the Le Pen judgment kicking about this morning. Call me old fashioned but if I didn’t want to be declared unfit for public office I just wouldn’t criminally abuse public money on an industrial scale.

obviously trying to find intellectual rigour in their arguments is a fool's errand but christ how can you both go for "we need to restore trust in politics" and "oh naturally we should let the woman who committed several crimes run for office"

In December, the ECR group looked quite determined to kick out their LU member Fernand Kartheiser for his pro Russian views. But the ECR seems now more flexible on Ukraine/Russia due to Meloni and the PiS's recent political mood swings and Trumps takeover in Washington www.wort.lu/politik/waru...

have written a very controversial column, in which I argue that 1) it's good that Le Pen has been barred from standing in the next election 2) it's good to celebrate that she has: www.theneweuropean.co.uk/marie-le-con...

The Le Pen case is a critical one There is no choice but to convict and punish politicians who violate the law. The risk of backlash is real. They may try to destroy the system to save themselves But the trick is to remember, they were already destroying the system. That's why they were convicted!

Narratives work through repetition So you choose which one is more relevant 1. She's a thief. An independent court found this to be true. or 2. The far right might get stronger since this will reinforce their "victims of the system" narrative. Not sure if this is good as she might win from it.

One of the most self-defeating tropes of the last 10-15 years has been the idea that the far right will always get control of the narrative, and that democrats should therefore pull their punches for fear of how it might play with the voters.

Spare me your 'this'll be great for the far-right actually' takes. It's the worst kind of liberal defeatism.

The bodies of more than a dozen aid workers have been recovered in southern Gaza from what a United Nations agency described as a "mass grave," a week after they went missing following attacks by Israeli forces.

Even under these circumstances, not sure MLP is happy to have the Kremlin remind everyone that it supports her www.lemonde.fr/politique/li...

The Paris criminal court has found Le Pen guilty of the misuse of European Parliament funds. Now awaiting sentencing

To all my journalist and news junky friends in Brussels. GO SEE the current exhibition on comic/graphic journalism at the Comic Art Museum. It's simply amazing, covering both classics and best kept secrets. Can only recommend it! Big ❤️ Just 1 more week! www.comicscenter.net/en/exhibitio...

If it talks like a fascist, looks like a fascist, and acts like a fascist — it doesn’t really matter if you call it a fascist.

Trump makes Jan Jambon, a hard-line Flemish nationalist, look like an anti racism activist. I hate this part of Trumpism almost the most. It makes anyone look virtuous, principled, and serious in comparison. Even Jan Jambon

Kharkiv following tonight's russian drone attack

One day, we will once again fly over Ukrainian Crimea, our Black Sea, and all of Ukraine. But only strength can bring Russia to peace—until then, nowhere in Europe will truly be safe.

The centre of Dnipro this evening. A reminder that on March 11 Ukraine agreed to a FULL 30-day, US-proposed ceasefire. Russia refused.

Some distant explosions in Kharkiv. Russian drones are swarming our region right now. God, I'm so tired of this. They never stop trying to kill us.
