Pelosi recently missed being assassinated and her husband was almost killed but mainstream media are so far gone they quickly downplayed the political murder attempts. Now another Dem leader and her husband are dead and still most of what we will hear about tomorrow is the fascist’s parade.

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.

Undocumented immigrants paid an effective federal income tax rate of 5.27% in 2022. That means they paid a higher effective tax rate than 5 of the richest Americans…and a higher effective tax rate than 55 mega corporations. So let me ask you: who are the real freeloaders?

anyone else struggling to calibrate how crazy we should feel rn ?

The new GOP slogan (thank you, Joni Ernst.)

All I have ate today is two cookies. 🙃

Main character energy is OUT, this summer we’re bringing NPC energy. We’re posted up at the bar dropping lore and suggesting side quests. We’re leaning casually near a locked door and saying “I don’t think you have the key for that” when someone tries the handle. We’re staring at a tree.

Congrats, GOP. You’ve managed to do what no enemy nation could: shut down American science and hand our brightest minds to China gift-wrapped. Banning genius while chasing Bible fanfic and memes isn’t “patriotism”—it’s national brain death. But hey, at least the flag’s still upright, right?

The argument “young white men turn to hate because they don’t get enough empathy for the barriers they face” needs to square itself with the reality that men and women of color — and many white women — faced generations of barriers without turning to hatred in the same numbers. 1/

In a legal sleight of hand, Republicans want to strip judges of their power to enforce rulings — because holding Trump in contempt might actually work… hartmannreport.com/p/the-final-...

14 MILLION. That’s how many people Republicans admit their plan would rip healthcare away from. Share it. Shout it. Stop it.

Per @washingtonpost.com: 'President Donald Trump on Thursday fired Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress — the first woman and first African American to hold the position. She was informed of the decision in a terse, two-sentence email'. #DrCarlaHayden #LibraryofCongress.

When I was raised a churchgoing Catholic, maintaining Jesus-like compassion and charity was the *entire premise* of the religion, so while a pope from Chicago sounds unreal I am pleased to hear someone is following in Pope Francis's footsteps.

BREAKING: President Trump just fired our nation's Librarian. My statement here:

If guilty people don't have Due Process rights, then innocent people don't have Due Process rights, because we don't know if they're innocent or guilty until we have a trial or hearing.

This is all SO dumb. We are going to be feeding Gatorade to plants in less than 3 years...

Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses. Real buttons are sooooooo back baby!

If it’s true that their only “evidence” against this judge is that she advised someone to leave out a side door, this is complete banana republic bullshit and should be unequivocally condemned by both parties.

What would encourage you to add to the baby supply?

Ed Martin's latest target: Wikipedia. The interim U.S. attorney and pro-Trump bulldog has sent a letter seeming to threaten the Wikimedia Foundation's tax-exempt status over allegations that it is "spreading propaganda." Our story: www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...

It was never just about schools, it was never just about libraries, and it isn't actually about the books. It's about finding a way to banish entire people, entire ideas, out of society, back into the closet or worse. www.chron.com/politics/art...

Man, this is a pretty fucking gross move from Amazon, huh? Good on @bookshop.org for not mincing words, though:

It's #Wednesday my dudes...🐸

Honest people don’t lie. Or do they? Liars aren’t honest. Or are they? One puzzling conundrum in contemporary politics is that politicians who seem to be estranged from facts and evidence are nonetheless considered honest by their followers. 1/n

Who did this?

Because rage online is draining and leaves one feeling a tad despondent, here is a short poem celebrating libraries:

Once again, another reason that the "You're wildly overreacting when you suggest that there's a high risk the 2026/28 elections won't be free & fair" view is so deeply unserious is that, by any serious & actually democratic standard, our current elections are already not even free & fair.

Two gifts to help. First, this image.

This surveillance robot was walking around the capitol today to normalize something that should not ever be normal. Your government should not be a faceless omni-present surveillance force. #democracy #politics #surveillancecapitalism

Something interesting happened here around 2000. The GOP took a hard right turn and never looked back. www.ft.com/content/3046...
