Animal Collective: Merriweather Post Pavillion Listening to the artist for the first time, a friend described this as a panic attack. I generally find it pretty uplifting but I get it.

There's the famous GY!BE TRANSPHOBES EAT SHIT AND DIE ALONE speaker.

13th Floor Elevators - Live at the Houston Music Theatre ‘67 Another RSD pickup. I’m so used to Spacemen 3’s Rollercoaster that Roky’s vocals threw me for a loop. Love this.

Olivia Tremor Control: Singles & Beyond. Of all my concert regrets, skipping OTC at several Toronto stops (@ $12 a ticket) thinking “I’ll just see them next time” haunts me the most. Never ended up seeing them and missing the music of Bill and Will today.

Hanging out by the dumpster with the rest of the RSD nerds.

Microphones - Microphones in 2020. Seeing Phil for the first time in a couple of weeks so spending time with the parts of his catalog I’m not very familiar with. I kind of think it doesn’t matter as he won’t play anything I know regardless right?!

A colleague gave me an old og copy of this and I realized I had only ever listened to the first song. (Thank you for that Ye). Exploring the rest this morning

Argent - Argent (1970)

Spank Rock - Sweet Talk 12”

Grateful Dead - Without a Net Thanks to @cartwright.bsky.social for alerting me to a heck of a deal on this a few weeks back.

the 15th anniversary remaster cover for the fat of the land just adding more crabs is one of the funniest album covers I’ve ever seen. i think about it all the time

Magnolia Electric Co - Sun Session A meditative, dog-dangling rendition of Hold On Magnolia is exactly what Saturday morning needed.

Man, Kranky records is criminally underrepresented here.

Loving this Discographic app for Discogs. Charts! Thanks @slowdrives.bsky.social for posting about it.

The Microphones - Mt. Eerie A monolith of an album. I actually listened to the “The Singing from Mt. Eerie” and “The Drums from Mt. Eerie” 10” EPs before ever hearing the full length. I have a complicated appreciation for this and that probably explains it.

Lee “Scratch” Perry - Life of the Plants I crawled out of my basement office today and am working next to actual sunlight flowing into actual windows. This is a perfect dub soundtrack. I need to look into the producer, Peaking Lights. That’s a new name to me.

Bonnie “Prince” Billy/Bryce Dessner/Eighth Blackbird - When We Are Inhuman A sparse but beautiful interpretation of a number of traditional songs mixed with three of Will’s. At times uneven, but the highs are very high.

Galaxie 500 - On Fire The new 2LP compilation has prompted me to revisit the stone cold classics. One of a few bands you can identify by a single guitar strum.

Did you know that you can use your phone to hear poems? Just call 917 994 8949

Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One

Palace Music - Arise Therefore I came to this album late in the early 2000s and told my wife that the music sounded like David Grubbs. Turns out that’s because he is heavily involved in the recording! My wife was not as impressed as she should have been.

Angel Olsen - Whole New Mess

I’m just going to say what the cowards won’t. Death Cab for Hootie.

Slint - Tweez Finally listening to the (Tw)Ethan mix. What an intro!
