COVID didn't "turn out fine." Over 1 million people died in just the US. People are still dying. 100s of thousands of people are still dealing with the effects of Long COVID. And the entire country lost its shit and is still unwell. Tariffs will not "turn out fine." Effects will be experienced.

The fact that anyone can be removed from the United States without due process is unacceptable. The Revelation that due process would have clearly prevented someone from being deported is unsurprising. The fact that there is no mechanism to bring that person back is sickening.

Just a reminder, Greenland and Russia are both smaller than you think.

A venn diagram of people who put "proficient in Microsoft Office" on their resume and have no idea what to do with Excel is basically a circle. Writing a few letters or essays in Word and making a PowerPoint in high school does NOT make someone proficient in Microsoft Office.

I feel like this article misses the point a little bit. Even if there isn't a benefit to carbon emissions, there are still measurable benefits to personal, physical, and psychological well-being by being warmer. cleantechnica.com/2025/03/27/t...

So it sure looks like they’re revoking visas without telling the people that they’ve been revoked. Turning people into lawbreakers without realizing there’s a law they’ve broken because they didn’t do anything differently.

How could a journalist for The Atlantic have been added to the Signal Houthi war chat? How will we ever possibly know how this—oh.

I'm torn between "no" and "fuck no". I think 4 years of uninspiring democratic leadership was enough. www.nbcnews.com/politics/joe...

Hey @cnn.com this is dumb: www.cnn.com/interactive/... I don't know what planet you think you are on that @donaldjtrump-maga.bsky.social won't be the Republican nominee for POTUS in 2028. Start acting like journalist. Not including DJT might be the most shortsighted blunder in your history.

A pallet of paper was under $2,000 at the end of December. I have to imagine doubling in price is directly related to Donald Trump's misguided tariffs.

I donated over 60 units of blood last year (almost entirely platelets). This is a huge step towards eliminating the shortages in blood supplies. More importantly, the quality of life improvement for the people who will be cured will be impossible to measure.

I don't ever want to hear complaints about "purity tests" and Democrats ever again. www.wcnc.com/article/news...

I bet this stuff will be five bucks by the end of the week. #Trumpkilledtheeconomy

Government Works 3 of 3. cleaned by the close of business today, so I think they found it in their best interest." Government works, people. We don't need less government. We don't need less regulation. This is why we have government.

Government Works 2 of 3. I sent a text to the person who called earlier to let him know I saw the truck, wasn't sure if Pulte was doing it on their own or he ordered them, and I appreciated them addressing the issue so promptly. He told me "They were threatened with a $5000 per day fine if it wasn't

Government Works 1 of 2. This morning I called CharMeck311 to report a construction project that was getting excessive mud into the road. My call was promptly handled. A direct followup was made around lunchtime to confirm the location. When I came by this evening a street-sweeper was running.

This is an excellent video by Nathan Davenport about NC passenger rail service, and why it is so successful. I would love to see service expanded to more cities and greater frequency. Also, could SC and GA get onboard with routes to Columbia, Spartanburg, and Atlanta? youtu.be/qh1B0F-O1hw?...

Just a reminder to all that Ben Shapiro is absolute trash. Colleges and Universities that sponsor him as a speaker are equally trash. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

Since all the littering charges could never stick, maybe this one will. www.wsoctv.com/news/local/n...

When they said they wanted to go after illegal immigrants who are criminals to make America safer, what they really meant is they want to go after kids on their way to a marching band competition because that's easier.

The most recent example of a fragile right-wing white male trying to play King because he can't handle the fact a black woman is speaking intelligently and with dignity. It's Gaston county North Carolina, though. Racism is well and alive there. www.wsoctv.com/news/local/g...

Why do people say the USPS loses money in the same breath that they talk about the necessary costs of a (supposedly) strong military? Why don't they say the military loses money? Pres 47 going to the Superbowl, the Daytona 500, and golfing every couple days loses money. www.cnbc.com/2025/02/22/p...

"Sharing a hotel room" is an empty complaint. When I started truck driving in '14, I shared a hotel during orientation, then spent 5 weeks on the road w/ a trainer living in a truck, getting paid $500/week. Sharing hotels is a great way to control expenses. www.paddleyourownkanoo.com/2025/02/16/d...

It's clear the Rays want out of the market. MLB wants a baseball team there. I think the only solution is for the team to move, but surrender all rights to the name, records, etc. MLB can grant a new Rays franchise. Think of the old Browns becoming the Baltimore Ravens. www.yahoo.com/news/st-pete...

Microplastics are one of those things that I knew were bad, but in the last couple weeks realized just how bad they are, and it almost makes me wish I was still so ignorant on the subject.

I predict in the next 15 years, Boom moves their headquarters from Denver, CO to North Carolina (where they will manufacture the Boom aircraft) and it becomes one of the top employers in the State. At the time of the move, Boom's revenue will be greater than Boeing. www.heise.de/en/news/Boom...

When I was a jr in college, my dorm had a standard 8' ceiling. I lofted my bed at the maximum height so I could walk underneath without ducking my head (I'm 6' even). It left me about 16" between my mattress and the ceiling. That was more than enough room for me to sleep. www.cnn.com/2025/02/11/t...
