Also, uh, they're claiming the Trump Admin is finally cracking down on the border by demanding "rigorous individualized scrutiny of illegals aliens." No, they're not! That's the whole damn point, ya dweebs!

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

genuinely want someone to do a reported profile on nancy mace because she seems to be deteriorating in public

This is a good thing to pause on and acknowledge/appreciate. The ground is shifting. You can feel it. It's happening too slowly and too many people will be hurt before it's shifted enough, but it is moving. Keep pushing.

There's an excellent episode of the Acquired podcast about the history of CostCo. And yeah, their "secret" is basically "treat people decently, stand by your word, and laser focus on getting your customer what they want at the lowest price possible." open.spotify.com/episode/6S1z...

GRIFTERS: The whole world is going to be revolutionized by AI! ACTUAL AI TRYING TO SAY DURAN DURAN:

New York State housing courts typically deal with landlord repairs as a third-party. But now the Harlem Community Justice Center (HCJC) will understand what it means to be a tenant.

Trump used this same phrase in 2013, attributing it to "Midas Touch".....which is not a thing, as far as I know.

"He used his private phone, rather than his government one, to access the Signal chat." www.nytimes.com/2025/04/20/u...

A good time to remind everyone of President Biden’s Oval Office-framed “Hagar the Horrible” comic strip. www.americamagazine.org/faith/2021/1...

How can Trae Young look at Derrick White and not realize it's time to shave his head?

This is literally a quote from the satirical comic strip "The Wizard of Id," which focused on a "tyrannical, dwarfish monarch...ruling a rundown and oppressed shabby kingdom." economicsociology.org/2015/08/28/r...

This won't stop the Stephen Millers or Kash Patels or other true believers. But it will give pause to folks down the line who need to implement these ideas. That's good.

I do wish guys like Reince Priebus were forced to explicate what it means when they say Ábrego Garcia "is" MS-13. They don't understand the very basics of what that phrase means and don't understand (or care) how millions of Americans could fall into whatever nonsense definition they have.

It's the "pretending" that is most annoying about this. Arguing for First Principles is great! Arguing for electability (can be) great! But we have everyone claiming that their first principles are also electorally beneficial and that's only sometimes true!

Has any dissent in a 7-2 SCOTUS case ever gotten this level of coverage? It's the top story on the NYT home page right now.

There's a bizarre religious fervor that captures some otherwise smart court-watchers. It sets them off on a path of "uncovering the hidden wisdom" of recent SCOTUS decisions that are much more easily and cleanly explained by outcomes-focused partisan politics.

"The founders acted to secure only Americans' rights, not those of all mankind." It must be challenging to have only a deep, unrelenting abyss where your soul should be.

"On the economy, however, the survey showed Trump with 43% approval and 55% disapproval, the first time in any CNBC poll that he has been net negative on the economy while president." www.cnbc.com/2025/04/19/t...

"We will look at every dollar spent through the lens of how AI can improve service and save money." AI has quite literally never improved service nor saved money. It has either failed or made things worse in virtually every deployment. We're gonna look back on this AI love fest so weirdly.

It's got its problems, but "Django Unchained" is one of the more morally clear-eyed movies about that era. Slaver? Blasted. Hang out with a slaver? Blasted. "Just doing my job within the slaving economy"? Blasted.

This is in line with the weird sexual insecurity eugenics ideology of the right-wing. It is contemptible and weak for a man to care for children who do not carry his genes, while virtuous and masculine for a man (like Musk) to have multiple genetic offspring he treats like chattel or never sees.

thought i was writing a story about an app that pays crypto bounties for reporting undocumented immigrants. but i was actually writing a story about something worse: a crypto pump-and-dump disguised as an app that pays crypto bounties for reporting immigrants www.theverge.com/tech/650015/...

Let me get this straight... Republican congressmen are allowed to take vanity tours in CECOT prison in El Salvador, but Senator Chris Van Hollen is denied entry to check on the welfare of his wrongly imprisoned constituent?

What in the absolute fuck

Notably, in his media availability in El Salvador, @vanhollen.senate.gov truthfully keeps saying that Abrego Garcia was "illegally abducted" and "disappeared" instead of the more antiseptic, and factually incorrect, "deported."

There are two kinds of libertarians: Those who oppose the state because they reject hierarchy and oppression, and view the state as the main tool for imposing both, and those who oppose the state because they support hierarchy and oppression and view the state as the main barrier to achieving both.
