Today, @thanedar.house.gov announced a resolution with 7 articles of impeachment for President Trump, including corruption for taking emoluments in violation of the Constitution: thanedar.house.gov/imo/media/do... Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUJn...

Does Bondi even know that the Constitution has a 5th Amendment?

It’s only getting much play in the trade/transport niche press. But pretty real product shortages beginning in mid-May or so are already locked in. They’re maybe a thousand miles out in the Pacific Ocean. Modern trade takes place in gargantuan container ships. There are very detailed records …

This is the legacy of Susan Collins. This and Donald Trump. 28 years in the US Senate #mepolitics

So sad that we have to say this: When a little kid (4yo US citizen) has cancer, it is a terrible and cruel thing to deport his mother. Terrible and cruel. Full stop. www.nbcnews.com/politics/imm...

We're now in the week where the import crunch from Trump's tariffs begins. A projected 11% decline in imported containers at the Port of Los Angeles this week and a 31% decline next week. There is something of a recovery the following week but still a double digit % decline.

in New Hampshire, JB Pritzker hits the "simpering timidity" of many Dems: “Fellow Democrats, for far too long we’ve been guilty of listening to a bunch of do-nothing political types who would tell us that America’s house is not on fire, even as the flames are licking their faces"

“Those same do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on our defense of Black people, of trans kids, of immigrants, instead of their own lack of guts and gumption,” Illinois Gov. Pritzker said.

It doesn't matter what the rest of the sentence says, the opening 10 words in themselves are the scandal: "President Trump on Thursday directed the Justice Department to investigate ... "

“If you’re leaking a document, take pictures of it with the camera within Signal, which doesn’t save photos to your camera roll, and then send them to the reporter. If the document is on a screen, take pictures of the screen with the Signal app; don’t print anything out.”

Open, flamboyant and intentional cruelty, and I don’t think you can ‘deport’ a US citizen so it’s just kidnapping and trafficking.

We need more of this. A lot more. Don’t let the MAGA creeps tell us how to live.

It's official. Resistance Summer School is happening. Columbia cancelled my class on Race, Media and International Affairs, but I'm going to teach it anyway. 100+ people have enrolled in just six hours. karenattiah.substack.com/p/enrollment...

BREAKING: @aclu.org says Trump deported a child (U.S. citizen) with metastatic cancer without medication or consultation with physicians. This is the second child with cancer he's deported. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol... @rollingstone.com

NEW: A federal judge raised alarm Friday that the Trump administration appeared to have deported a 2-year-old U.S. citizen to Honduras with "no meaningful process" — even as her father was fighting to keep her in the country. Details w/ @joshgerstein.bsky.social www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

I have gotten confirmation from sources inside the Coast Guard that this is in fact true and happened in Key West. ICE went into military housing and took the spouse of a USCG member who is currently out to sea.

NEW — I wrote about Beker Rengifo, a Montana resident from Venezuela who was taken by ICE on Thursday after a routine traffic stop, and how local law enforcement is working with the feds to ensnare people with legal status.

I really have had enough of "oh, Dems need to retune their message." People need to OPPOSE this guy. He is trying to destroy the country, and make everyone's life worse.

Does anyone know Susan Collins position on judicial independence? Has anyone asked? I have, of course, but she doesn’t respond to questions from constituents. #mepolitics

I remember when Susan Collins pretended that security protocols were very important for US foreign policy leadership. #mepolitics

Not enough to be evil and wrong. Trump et al have to be stupid as well. Does anyone think this was a good idea?!

1/2 The judge at issue is a county judge, not a federal judge as some are claiming. And arresting judges is not *necessarily* bad/fascist/whatever. If the judge committed a crime, she should be treated like anyone else who committed a crime.

Collins has a clear and simple choice: Either act like a US Senator, with integrity and self-respect, or step aside in shame and be forgotten. #mepolitics

More than two-thirds of Mainers don’t think Sen. Susan Collins deserves to be reelected next year, including most Republicans, according to a survey conducted last week.

Stupidity is Expensive

NYT: One estimate finds that DOGE’s “firings, re-hirings, lost productivity and paid leave of thousands of workers” will actually COST taxpayers “upward of $135 billion this fiscal year.” @nytimes.com 🤡 www.nytimes.com/2025/04/24/u...

Exactly

There’s no Alien Enemies Act exception to the Fourth Amendment.

The relentless and awful stupidity of all this is exhausting. I am embarrassed to be an American.

EXCLUSIVE: Geoff Bennett interviewed Kseniia Petrova, a Russian scientist at Harvard Medical School who has been in ICE detention since February. Her case has raised concerns about the treatment of foreign researchers in the U.S. under the Trump administration. www.pbs.org/newshour/sho...

NEW: A coalition of students from more than 15 law schools across the country have signed a pledge not to work for any firm that “gives in to Trump administration demands…” Signatories include students from Harvard, Georgetown, University of Chicago, UT-Austin… docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

A lot of very distinguished people who swore an oath to preserve the Constitution are watching it get cut to pieces.

Trump Stumbles—A Bit—in the Unis Wrestlin’ Match High-Stakes Drama talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/trump...

"Trump, who has benefited from the protections of due process more than perhaps anyone else in American history, doesn't see why it should be afforded to anyone else." And writing an op-ed is not a crime, dammit. www.thebulwark.com/p/rumeysa-oz...

Let's wake up. He's REALLY unpopular for this early in a term or really ever. President's this unpopular are already losing. Power becomes harder to assert when your power is fading.

Who could have possibly foreseen this development?! danieldrezner.substack.com/p/the-art-of...

Excellent and important summary from @financialtimes. Trump is essentially trying to overcome difficulty with stupidity. And failing.

My Trade Secrets today. Even a less chaotic US president than Trump would struggle to reorder the world trading system. Countries want tech transfer and export demand. The US is behind China on a lot of tech and won't do trade deals to increase market access. And Trump is making everything worse.

It’s good to be lucky

Romero: When the Supreme Court said, “You now have to file habeas petitions in each of the different jurisdictions,” most people would’ve paused—but we got up and did it. We started filing habeas after habeas in every one of those district courts.

The same principle applies to US based detention. Arbitrary abduction and imprisonment is not benign. Even for people released without charge. It is punishment.

Very compelling new piece by @ahilantoolong.bsky.social arguing that while courts have long said deportation isn't a "punishment," condemnation to CECOT clearly is. That matters for constitutional purposes. @justsecurity.org www.justsecurity.org/110679/depor...

Key Democrats sent scathing letters to 5 top law firms demanding details on the lucrative deals they cut with Trump to avoid being punished by him. “Your agreement makes you complicit in efforts to undermine the rule of law." www.huffpost.com/entry/democr...
