This is interesting stuff. America went from a country where 60 Minutes was by far the most watched show for decades — until the 2000s, when American Idol took the crown. And that has in turn shaped political views. www.niemanlab.org/2025/04/the-...

The Venn Diagram of those who whine when called out for their bigotry for voting for Trump, saying that all Trump supporters aren’t racist — and those cheering the arrest and deportation of pro-Palestine activists as all terrorists and pro-Hamas, is a full circle…

This is what a 50-state strategy sounds like. Maybe you don't win all those elections, but there are other ways for energized citizens to make their voices heard, and some of those ways are especially important for the current fight to restore a democratic constitutional order after this Trump coup

BREAKING: AOC bringing the house down in Utah. “It will never be just institutions and officials alone who uphold our democracy. It will always be the people, the masses who refused to comply with authoritarian regimes who are the last and strongest defense of our country and our freedom.”

The crowd and overflow crowd for the Bernie Sanders/AOC event tonight in Utah. Wow.

BREAKING: 36k people showed up in LA for Bernie and AOC’s rally. In the off year. Americans are pissed — and anyone ignoring that is making a big mistake.

AOC: We must acknowledge the terrifying moment we are in right now. What we are hearing and seeing with our own eyes is, in fact, happening. We are watching our neighbors, students, and friends being fired, targeted, and disappeared. It is real.

Too much has been swept under the rug while American media obsessed over every new piece of attention-grabbing distraction emanating from the white house: "IDF unit involved in Gaza paramedics’ killing was under command of brigade led by notorious Israeli general" www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

Ok, I am not clear on exactly what this is all about, but on the surface, I have to say, it seems pretty awesome: Judge dismisses charge against North Dakota man accused of impersonating ICE officer www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...

This seems like something worthy of broad-based support.

If this is true it is good news, because it will make it easier to distinguish true patriots from fascists. People who put ideals of fairness, democracy, and justice over personality, avarice, and intimidation can fly the flag freely without concern that they might be mistaken for supporting fascism.

One of these two people is a shrewd capitalist financier. The other one is an undereducated, selfish, overgrown toddler subject to emotional tantrums who thinks that being a bully is the best way to make deals.

Federal spending is *up* under Trump according to the Wall Street Journal. Chaos is not actually the same as cost savings. Actual budgeting is a kind of actual policy-making and takes real work spread over real time. Running around breaking stuff isn't that. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
