Next XO from the White House will declare the Dunning-Kruger effect the Trump effect "because the president had already thought of this prior to 1999, and understands it better than Dunning and Kruger anyway." 🤦

Anyone doing Edexcel... @chatbiology.bsky.social 2023 Bio 2H paper Q is doing my head in. Is there something in Edexcel about a clear difference between a control and a control variable? Plus, if the experiment is comparing the insulation properties, an uninsulated control seems a bit superfluous.

Scientists love to debate and argue, but if there are 3 things every scientist absolutely agrees on, it's that: 1. Climate change is real 2. Vaccines work 3. Those are NOT dire wolves 😤 🧪

Buy Ford Ranger. Drive to gym. Park at the door. (Car parks are for losers). Do gym session. Drive home. Feels like a metaphor.

How the words students hear changes significantly at the transition to secondary school. Really interesting research with specific examples via @alicedeignan.bsky.social & Marcus Jones. www.tes.com/magazine/ana...

Extraordinary from @timharford.ft.com and More or Less. The whole thing about the mass exodus of over-50s from the workforce may just be flawed Labour Force Survey data.

Sounds like maybe this is an unresolved methodological Q. Given how many papers present a "novel approach", seems like a good indicator we should be getting a better handle on the old ones instead.

Seeking advice on education data - need not be US. I have a great undergrad student who wants to write a thesis on a topic intersecting technology + education - was interested in whether AI improves / hurts learning but will iterate to adjacent topics based on data availability. Help? #EconSky
