Looking ahead to the disability benefits green paper, this essay for @citizensadvice.bsky.social makes the case for a system focused on improving health outcomes. Co-authors @maddyirose.bsky.social, @victoria-anns.bsky.social & Simon Collerton We challenge the 5 big falsehoods underpinning cuts…🧵

Reliable source at the highest possible level has just told me huge increase in calls to suicide helplines because of the threatened benefits cuts.

Dear Policy Exchange, PIP is not an out-of-work benefit. So why are you trying to score political points by insisting young people on #PIP must work, volunteer or go into training? PIP enables disabled people to do these things. Cutting it will do the opposite. Thanks Dr Watts

I rescued this email just in time. Phew! 😂

A possible future: if you're disabled or sick a private for profit company contracted by the Govt will assess you for benefits, they get a bonus for refusing you. Then as your life becomes unbearable due to being homeless/nil income the same for profit company will offer to kill you on govt contract

You wonderful people have helped raise over the requested amount in just one day! It currently stands at £415, so I will close the crowdfunder now Thanks for the love, kindness and solidarity. Thanks for showing the loved ones of those who died they are not alone, that there are people who care.

I want to send 400+ A5 postcards to all the Labour MPs. Can cover printing costs, but have a fundraiser for the postage. Thanks in advance :) Activism like this is acting like a mosquito, small but irritating, and causing a tiny disruption to comfortable bullshit. www.gofundme.com/f/postage-to...

@lner.co.uk we usually have problems with disability assistance at Peterborough but today lovely Glen gave a prompt, considerate and friendly service, thank you Glen!

As Labour touts more brutal cuts to benefits, how is this different from life under the Tories? Reeves tweaks non-dom tax law because of “concerns” but ignores the cries of disabled, old, sick, poor. Poor are expendable. Wealthy potential donors less so. Govt must change direction.

feels like it's time to break this out again

In 2015, Utopia Of Rules was published and written by David Graeber. This is an extract from that book!

In her latest blog, @dollysen.bsky.social shares news of getting Arts Council funding for a project that will explore the legacy of Lorina Bulwer, a Victorian woman incarcerated in a Great Yarmouth workhouse lunatic ward. https://disabilityarts.online/blog/dolly-sen/the-lorina-bulwer-legacy-proje…

Elon Musk pushed out the FAA chief — who resigned 1 year into a 5 year term, last week. Why? Because last year the FAA fined SpaceX $600,000 — for safety violations. Now the FAA has no chief — and we just had the first commercial airline crash in 16 years.

I reviewed this amazing book. It is out now. Everyone in healthcare should read. Very proud of my ex #OccupationalTherapy student Dolly Sen @disabilityarts who compiled the stories. Congratulations to all who contributed to the book. #MentalHealth #BrokenSystem

A lot of people are saying "I voted, I'm mad, but what else can I do?" so I typed up a list of legal, non-violent, actionable steps anyone can take to resist the rise of fascism in the USA. #antifascist #anticapitalist #resist www.prideandpagesbookclub.com/resisting-fa...

Total respect and admiration for the 3 brilliant survivors here, please share widely. It took huge courage #solidarity

The third book in our series of narratives of discrimination in the mental health system: Racism & Antisemitism in the Mental Health System is now out on sale! cuckoosnestbooks.bigcartel.com/product/raci... £9 each, plus £2.50 for postage.

I'm delighted to announce I'll receive funding from Arts Council England to launch my combined arts project to explore the legacy of Lorina Bulwer, a Victorian woman who created long needlework samplers to record her rage at being locked up on a lunatic ward. More info to follow!

Being an older disabled woman artist is being invisible in the art world, so that is why we are going to take over MIMA on Feb 8th and f*** invisibility mima.art/event/rising...

Fuck Yeah!

There are 5 legislative actions hitting disabled people in 2025: Assisted Dying Bill Mental Health Bill WCA/Working White paper PIP Green Paper Data Protection & Digital Information Bill Overall if govt has its way, we will end the year with fewer rights, more poverty, & more disabling barriers.
