Finally getting to THE RULE OF JENNY PEN, my last assignment before SXSW.

Added two throwbacks and a new favorite to the record collection. You gotta check out Winona Fighter, new album “My Apologies To The Chef” just dropped. Punky, Riot Girl branded alt-rock. Love ‘em.

It's (selfishly) nice to hear this because our approach with guest episodes of @certifiedforgot.bsky.social is that neither myself nor @monagle.bsky.social are the "draws." When we have a guest on, we want it to be their show!

Random reason #285 why I didn't get enough sleep: I couldn't go to bed last night until I wrote 2,700 words about [checks notes] the 1998 LOST IN SPACE reboot. #JusticeForBigBlarp

No Other Land Co-Director Yuval Abraham: "The foreign policy in this country is helping to block this path. Why? Can't you see that we are intertwined? There is another way. It's not too late for life, for the living. There is no other way."

I didn't expect ANORA to win as much as it did—Picture and Director were my locks—but I ain't mad. Sean Baker did a wonderful job navigating each speech without repeating, and hell yeah Mikey Madison! Not a bad night for The Movies™.

Congrats to Adrien Brody, but it should have been Colman Domingo.

I do wish Best Cinematography went to Jarin Blaschke for Nosferatu. It's been my vote for cinematography all season. Zero horror bias, I just think every shot is staggeringly beautiful and exceptionally intentional.

No Other Land just won an Oscar without US distribution. Absolutely legendary for them, this film and its message. The most important award of this year, hands down.

K, we've endured the two inevitable Emilia PĂŠrez wins. Plz, no more?

Should have been Isabella Rossellini.

Hell yeah, THE SUBSTANCE. Love to see the Oscars rightfully honor nasty body horror practical effects with a statue.

I used to do this on Twitter, can’t seem to tag folks here, but check out your Fango Class of Spring 2025 🖤

fun flick. think I saw it through Slamdance back in the day. or maybe it was SXSW.

Had a long chat with Charlie Cox @vincentdonofrio.bsky.social @justinhbenson.bsky.social @aaronmoorhead.bsky.social about #DaredevilBornAgain. This was a ton of fun.

Love that @hauntedmeg.bsky.social is out here singing the praises of DEAD & BREAKFAST. While not written or directed by Oz Perkins, it still shows his goofy horror-comedy side. Also love that the lead singer from The Verve Pipe helped write the hick-hop musical numbers. Such a fun movie!

Livestream time! Grab a drink, hop in the chat, and let’s talk about the Oscars. We’ll be live from 7-8PM PST.

For years, the only thing @donatobomb.bsky.social and I could agree on was that we would never agree on Osgood Perkins. But after LONGLEGS and THE MONKEY, we might just have buried that hatchet.

I just RSVP'ed for an all-weekend SXSW event sponsored by [quadruple checks link] Gorton's Seafood lolol. My diet for two days straight is going to be nothing but fish sticks and cocktails.

LONGLEGS was the first Oz Perkins movie Monagle and I agreed on—will THE MONKEY be the second?

Small men always grow angry when they are confronted with the type of man they wish people saw them as, but can never be.

I’ve got an essay in one of these releases, bet you can’t guess which one? (It’s JASON X, obviously. Of course I found my way onto the JASON X release.)

I grew up in Southeast Alaska, where any serious medical emergency requires you to be flown to Seattle for treatment. Between the defunding of government grants, the loss of federal jobs, and the destruction of Medicaid, Alaska is in deep, deep trouble, and it scares the shit out of me.
