When I voted for Steve-O for President, it was because of his support for lowering inflation. I had no idea he would be stapling his nutsack to the Oval Office floor every day, and getting NFL field goal kickers to boot his nutsack across the room, and other frankly childish nutsack related follies.

For all the “Russia participates in the START treaty which is why the bombers we’re in the open” level of cope out there: No they don’t. They suspended their participation in 2023. They just thought the bombers we’re safe

We still can’t get straight answers on why ICE agents are masked and refusing to ID themselves. On top of all that they appear to be lying about cause. Congress, do you see what’s happening? Don’t be silent! Call your Senators & Reps. Demand an investigation. ☎️ Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

A brutal 2–1 decision from the 5th Circuit forcing the removal of a young girl to Venezuela even though she has lived in Texas for years and it is the only home she can remember. The dissent verges on incandescence in its fury and despondency. Incredibly bleak. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Tesla Takedown in Boston.

"Musk is a greedy kleptocrat whose life’s work boils down to stealing from the poor to pad his own bottom line. That’s his legacy. He could’ve changed the world for the better; he had every resource available to him to do so. Instead, he made it markedly worse."

SERIOUS QUESTION: What is going on with all these “officers” in tactical gear for a routine traffic stop—with no clear identification? They seem like imposters. And what’s up with that ball cap?

my takeaway from this feature is that in a functioning political system there would be televised congressional hearings over the fact that one of the most influential people in the white house is a total maniac www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

“People will not lose their Medicaid unless they choose to do so," House Speaker Mike Johnson said. Several experts and organizations expose this for the lie that it is.

Trump admin has renewed a request at the Supreme Court seeking to put on hold a judge's ruling that blocked plans to do widespread firings at an alphabet soup of federal agencies.

Wow, everything he touches turns to crap. Maybe he's not the genius everyone was raving about after all.

If you want your kids to bring home even more infections from school, this is the school district for you!

"This is a moment in history personified. This is not just people buying favors. This is about who controls this country, and everyone else is just a formality, and that is the worldview that we are up against right now." Interview: www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

An immigration lawyer who tried to stave off ICE disappearances in Lower Manhattan last week spoke to Hell Gate about the trap that's being set for immigrants. "This is so extreme, from both a legal perspective and one's conscience," she told Hell Gate. hellgatenyc.com/immigration-...

"The hallways...were absolutely lined with ICE agents. And immigrants were scared to leave, even though their cases were still open. What happened was that ICE agents then stormed into the courtroom, kicked out the attorneys, and detained everyone in the courtroom over the judge's objections."

very notable how Fox turns every antisemitic act of violence into a way to push for Ilhan Omar's expulsion from Congress

if you set the distribution of harms from pollution (e.g. cancer and asthma rates) next to the distribution of benefits from economic cooperation (e.g. income/wealth gaps) then the narrative that environmentalism is for the rich is the thing we should find surprising!

NEW, from me: It has attracted *shockingly* little attention, but last week the Supreme Court transformed one of the country’s biggest environmental permitting laws. The ruling could reduce the number of energy and infrastructure projects that face legal challenges: heatmap.news/climate/kava...

NEW: Important Context spoke with a dozen people working at NIH about Director Jay Bhattacharya. The descriptions were universally unflattering, painting the health economist as ineffectual, dishonest, ideological, arrogant, and uncommitted to science. www.importantcontext.news/p/out-of-his...

Why were we not told that RoboJoe has not had his firmware updated in 8 years and is plagued by buggy programming and poor design choices? I asked six MIT robotics experts who were deported to Burkina Fasso. Today from Jake Tapper in the NYT

The new top voting lawyer at the Department of Justice was until recently an attorney and activist for a leading anti-voting legal group that has worked for years to spread fear about illegal voting and press election officials to tighten voting rules. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

The interesting question to me — and no one who’s writing about him now seems to agree with it, but whatever, I’m right — is *why* he was revived as a public figure. Because his popularity clearly isn’t organic, at least at its roots.

Marcelo Gomes was supposed to play in the band at his high school's graduation ceremony yesterday. He was in ICE custody instead.

If you want to astound a younger American today, tell them that thirty years ago there was actually a years-long investigation into a president's personal business dealings and, even better, it centered on a real estate venture where he *lost* money.

Whitehouse on Trump’s attacks on Leonard Leo: This whole thing is hysterical… The fact that Trump is furious with him right now may signal a dawning realization: that he actually might not have truly chosen his Supreme Court appointees.

Not excited at the third case being taken up at ALL. It comes out of a series of legal victories over the past few years which have found that private prison companies are violating trafficking laws by forcing ICE detainees to work for $1/day through threats. GEO Group wants those lawsuits stopped.

i don't even really know what to say to this utterly bizarre post

Stunning overview of the former bed of the now gone Birch Glacier shot yesterday from the right lateral moraine 😲😱 INCREDIBLE to think that there WAS a glacier here just a few days ago! The area above the glacier still holds ~300,000m3 of debris Source D. Farinotti - @vaw-glaciology.bsky.social

Antonin Scalia will be remembered because he was a long-serving justice on the Supreme Court, responsible for foisting the idiocy of originalism on us and a key player in some disastrous rulings. That's his lasting claim to fame. His prose stylings might warrant a footnote.

It’s not alleged. Three separate legal investigations at the state and federal level found he did these things.

"Harriet Tubman, along with Black soldiers, took part in a daring Union raid of Combahee Ferry near Beaufort, South Carolina. She became the first American woman to lead a major military operation when she and at least 150 Black soldiers helped to rescue more than 700 Black Americans..."

No, for so many, many reasons, but including this: An extremely strong norm I acquired from my punk rock days was that if somebody does stuff like stiff-armed salutes they are banished from the scene.

At least the plainclothes masked goons who are kidnapping people are also incompetent and reckless

The Ukraine drone operation probably cost less than $250k and did several BILLION dollars of damage to Russia's strategic bomber fleet.

Marco Rubio denies responsibility for any child deaths from the USAID shutdown. Yet the New York Times published photos of two who died when their 12¢/day medicine vanished — two of hundreds of thousands.

Either Joe Biden was replaced by clones, proving President Trump right, or he wasn’t—which would indicate unacceptable failures in cloning and robotics during the Biden administration. by Vivek Ramaswamy
