“Zuckerberg’s daikatana” is just *chef’s kiss*

Going by this oddly plausible idea, the solution to many of society’s ills (ketamine, isolation, lack of exercise) is to make there be more & cheaper clubs and as such I cannot endorse it hard enough (cf folk theory of why football hooliganism declined in the early 90s)

I spent the best part of seven hours holding water bottles out to my left and that arm is honestly slightly bigger than the right one now. Probably more swollen than swole? OTOH it feels fine; I guess all that glowsticking is good for something

…and we’re done!

Front of the water station. A brief lull between setup and the wheelchair racers coming through in 15 mins; by the time the main crowd comes through this will be total madness

That distinctive Big Event Feel: crowd barriers, scrim, beep beep reversing telehandlers, grab a tabard, hunt down the checkin, crrk walkie talkies, nobody quite knows the plan apart from a slightly frantic person in hi-viz so pitch in next to a friendly total stranger to get the pallets unloaded

On my way to help hand out water at mile 19 of the marathon - it’s always fun to try to suss out who on the tube is doing what: runners, supporters, helpers, bemused tourists, and people on their way home from a night out

I am extremely strongly in favour of this provided it means I don’t have to listen to anyone other than Leonard Cohen sing “Hallelujah” ever again

I have never been able to remember anything about Nixon’s VP because any attempt to do so gets eclipsed by his name being an anagram of “grow a penis”, sorry, even the nattering nabobs thing doesn’t really stick for more than a moment, yes I am five years old hi

Wow people are adding some cool stuff to this auction (raising money for trans rights in the UK and South Africa). Go have a look. (Also there’s a pair of handmade socks in there from me 🧶 )

We had to work for Easter lunch - our shovels rang in the parents’ front yard grunting the ould forgotten vowels shoulders globed from rock-toil, like we’re in a fucking Seamus Heaney poem

oh the claves are gonna be conkin

Hijacking this to vent my cranky opinion that everyone goes on about The Knifecrimes and The Feral Youth and The Social Medias What Can You Do Eh but rarely The 50% Cut To Youth Club Funding This Last Decade. Youth clubs should get more money. (Signed, treasurer of a youth club in London)

Occasionally you can identify a song just by looking at it

It turns out that not only do sensitive mimosas react to touch, they also go to sleep at night and it is utterly adorable

It’s very funny how people see something in allcaps and an asterisk and just assume it’s a verbatim Bloomberg headline * TRUMP ANNOUNCES 200% TARIFF ON MASSACHUSETTS, DECLARES WAR ON MOON

Saw this and went to check how we’d done: 24kWh! Same little notch after 3pm so I guess there was a brief patch of cloud over London..

I have heard the first petrol lawnmower of the year; it is now officially summer.

It the orbital band!

My little baby sensitive mimosas have only just germinated but they can already do The Thing!

In cheerier news: cherry tree rains blossom down, into our garden

Impressive that they've managed to make e-tickets much more of a pain in the ass than physical pieces of paper. The app is of course an annoying mess that's much more keen on shoving stuff I don't care about into my face than actually showing the tickets.
