I try to make digital things easier to use for everyone, including people with disabilities. Then I go for walks and watch bunnies destroy everything I grow in my garden. After that I read.

You might know us from the guides we have put together, like the de-risking guide and the UX guide. Governments all around the world have used them to make services more accessible and add more value to the public — all while saving millions of dollars. You can still find them here: 18f.org/guides/

The #axe-con2025 keynote given by @sfdirewolf.bsky.social this morning was excellent! Combating Ableism and Driving Positive Change. Thank you Alice Wong, for your insights.

Elon’s mass harassment email to all federal employees underscores the importance of having unions to represent workers against abusive management.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

"We’re seeing in real time that there are no practical technical measures preventing someone from taking a spanner to the technology that keeps our government stable, that keeps society running every day — despite the very real consequences." —@danhon.com in @technologyreview.com

I just added more things to this list today: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

This week, approximately 200,000 federal workers have been let go.

Trump's assault on the NIH w/a $9B cut will damage academic research institutions and medical research centers - the effects will be devastating to the University of California, UC employs 265,000 faculty and staff, enrolls 295,000 students has >2M alumni.. call your representatives and senators

Might sound a bit deflating, but it’s better for a design system to be dependable than aspirational. 1. Do what you say you’re going to do. 2. Ship when you say you’re going to ship. 3. Fix things when they’re broken. 4. Support folks when they need help. Boring, but effective.

Gotta admit this slaps

For anyone working in the digital space: keep going. Keep making websites accessible. Keep using style guide to avoid harmful or exclusionary language. Keep content accessible as best you can. The rules of making the web useful won’t disappear. You’ve got this.

Hi, I am @motherjones.com' disability reporter. In the following weeks, I am very interested in hearing how tariff nonsense impacts getting your meds and medical equipment. My email to get in touch is [email protected]. Reposts appreciated.

so much feels out of my control right now, but I try to constantly remind myself that one area where I have complete autonomy is how I treat the people around me.
