Tomorrow!

Can the GDP fall that quickly? www.atlantafed.org/cqer/researc...

If you were Donald Rumsfeld, you might say, GenAI is a tool for creating unknown unknowns. You tend to end up not knowing what it is that you don't know

Oh my God, I just had a full night’s sleep and Cory Booker is still going… www.youtube.com/live/rCUK2Vb...

Capitalism falls apart when boycotting becomes a lifestyle

Happy to share that the paper describing the AILuminate v1.0 benchmark is now out! arxiv.org/abs/2503.05731 The benchmark is designed with @mlcommons.org to assess LLM risk and reliability across 12 hazard categories. AILuminate is available for testing models and helping ensure safer deployment!

Don’t worry. Government employees are safe if they speak in a personal capacity.

I think @wendyorent.bsky.social and I thought this might happen, not that this took any genius

In the Obama years, big tech was the darling sector of liberal politics - now they've all joined the far right. We wrote a little thing in Jacobin arguing that AI and labor politics are a major force in that shift. Check it out! jacobin.com/2025/02/tech...

Wow, authors' copies have just arrived! So cool (and kinda strange lol) to see our work in print! Amazing job from @commonnotions.bsky.social! Love the cover design from Josh MacPhee <3 Get a copy here: www.commonnotions.org/why-we-fear-ai

gml.noaa.gov is now non-functional. This is the site that I would go to every month to get updated GHG data for my graphics. I'm not sure if scrippsco2.ucsd.edu will have access to the CO2 data, or where I will get CH4 data. I made a local backup of gml last week in anticipation. In remembrance:

We had two papers accepted at NAACL'25! 🥳 - Improving model evaluation using SMART filtering of benchmark datasets (Gupta et al. arxiv.org/pdf/2410.20245) - On the role of speech data in reducing toxicity detection bias (Bell et al. arxiv.org/pdf/2411.08135)

I feel this in my core.

This is the first New Year's Day I remember being worried about what will happen

DO IT!

Curious. All these billionaires are college dropouts who know nothing about physics, but they like to claim they could have been physicists. So why don't they go back to school? freethoughtblogs.com/pharyngula/2... www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmJI...

Sadly, I just realized that 2025 = 45² is the only perfect square calendar year I will see in my lifetime. You too. Unless your 88+ years old, or a newborn who thinks there's a chance in hell you'll live to be 92.

Why is this not headline news? Chinese-government-backed spies maintained access to US telecommunications providers' networks for months – and in some cases still haven't been booted out. www.theregister.com/2024/12/05/t...
