A reminder for the Saturday afternoon/evening crowd.

Heres my blogtour review for @thewritereads.bsky.social of Sir Buddy the Knoght and the Queen of Sorrow by @althazar.bsky.social suelbavey.wordpress.com/2025/02/22/b...

Claws of the Collector, noir fantasy featuring a were-cat, a were-rat, a troll, a goat sorcerer, a foul-mouthed elf, nature spirits, a certain private investigator, and dragons is ON SALE for just 99 CENTS!!! Hurry--sale ends Sunday! US: amazon.com/dp/B0DBRNHMTB UK: amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DBRNHMTB

The Queen of Smiles is a tough character to write. She doesn't eat, doesn't sleep, isn't human, but still has a kernel of humanity inside of her. She's lived for 90-plus years but most of it was under someone else's rules. She's old & vicious & jaded but also emotionally underdeveloped.

Fans of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files and Tom Doyle's American Craftsmen will enjoy this mashup by @douglaslumsden.bsky.social of hardboiled detective and dark ops elements, taking place in an urban fantasy thriller setting and featuring a unique take on shapeshifters. www.amazon.com/Claws-Collec...

Recently, someone on social media insulted and blocked an author for declaring publicly that they loved their own work. Seriously? In my latest Under the Fedora blog, I come down on the side of arrogance and confidence. Check it out here: douglaslumsden.substack.com/p/i-love-my-...

I woke up at 3 a.m. with a great idea for my WIP that would have involved substantially revising everything I've written so far (68K words). I was willing to do it, too. Fortunately I woke up this morning with a way to make the idea even stronger by incorporating it into what I've already written.

I wrote an 1850-word chapter today. My books have always been heavy on dialogue, but, apart from some visual cues and some brief action scenes, my WIP is reading almost like the script of a play. I might be overdoing it. On the other hand, it flows very nicely.

My latest drabble (100-word story) is up on my Under the Fedora newsletter. It's called "The Moment When" and it was inspired by Valentine's Day. Check it out if you have a spare 30 seconds: douglaslumsden.substack.com/p/drabble-11...

A pantsing kind of day. Rather than moving forward, I moved sideways, inserting a thousand-word passage in the middle of what I’d previously written and 400 more words to beef up another previously written scene.

1050 words today, including the line: “I didn’t do much, just caused a bear to shit in the woods. Happens every day.” I think I’m making good progress!

I decided not to wait. My full review of @dmeyerauthor.bsky.social's entertaining Credible Threats is up right now on Goodreads! (Love the cover by @luketarzian.bsky.social!) www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Hey K, maybe when you post marketing for a project you want people to follow, maybe post the link to it! 🙃 www.kickstarter.com/projects/182...

I finished @danielmeyers.bsky.social’s Credible Threats last night. Highly entertaining action-packed adventure of a 16–year-old wizard battling to overcome grief and defend his town against an evil magician and his drug-dealing gang. High body count in this one. Full review to come.

Several days of rain and heavy cloud cover hid the full moon from me until last night when I caught it shining through the tree outside my bedroom window.

It’s #FridayReads time and Valentine’s Day! Let’s boost all signals. Repost this and let us know what to repost for you. I’m sharing a love story! Gabe fears settling down with his girlfriend. Bimbo married a woman who can drink souls. Ah, love… www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0316...

Nearly 1200 words today. It got a little goofy, but Rita says it works in the context of the story and the world Shade lives in. I try to make sure that my books don't all sound alike, and today's work certainly accomplishes that.
