@richardlowes.bsky.social do you know anything about the possible changes to the BUS grant to include air-to-air? Is it likely to come soon or are they going to wait on the heating trials they are doing now? Cheers

Good to finally hear engineering policy being discussed in all but name on BBC radio 4 this morning www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

'destroyed many solar panels & some of the transformers...Replacing transformers & swapping out destroyed panels allowed the farms, 400 MW worth, to be back up in seven days...attack on a thermal generating station, which experienced a similar amount of damage, took three to four months to rebuild'

I think I heard Nick Robinson on BBC Radio 4 Today programme accidentally refer to AI as “alternative intelligence”. I think we should use that instead of “artificial”.

100% what i think we need to do with all material production- reverse the carbon arrow ⬇️ not ⬆️ (and its engineers not scientists doing this…)

going to keep posting about this piece because I really think that everyone online should read it: www.wheresyoured.at/never-forgiv...

Did anyone else know it was £100 for a covid jab…? Cant get my head around that…

Hot take: getting an air-to-water heat pump when you have a ~7 year old or younger combi boiler in a 120m2 (or smaller) UK property is both an act of self-harm & an act of communal healing. I could thread this but I’m pretty tired rn

Another #heatpump question - am exploring an AIRA system which seems to come with a min 40l buffer - this seems unnecessary if we have a 200l cylinder so do we *really* need it? Doesnt seem essential… will ask them but wanted independent expert views @glynhudson.bsky.social ?

We have “AI” (supposebly) but my sharepoint filesystem still orders files/folders with numbers in the name by putting “Week 10” above “Week 1”…

Anyone recently get a heat pump moving from a standard ~5p gas tarriff & ~20-24p elec tariff to Octopus cosy… and with a SCOP of 3.5… does your new elec bill compare to your old gas & elec? Do you make a decent monthly saving (eg £50/month)?

HEAT PUMPS WERE HEATING UK BUILDINGS BEFORE NATURAL GAS BOILERS EXISTED. Here is the world's first ship which was capable of transporting Methane. It docked at Canvey Island, England in 1959. The first heat pump system installed in the UK was 1928

@oliver-kathryn.bsky.social do you know of any papers looking at the efficacy of legislating for evidence use in government? Running a debate with my MPA cohort & struggling to find any papers on it. Cheers!

I have a PhD in brain sciences and yet I cannot figure out how I am supposed to programme this central heating thermostat so that it doesnt drop the set point to 10deg during the day… What this shows is how engineers basically make a policy to say “dont mess with your heating & dont turn it off”

First proper post on bluesky. What Xwitter account do you wish was ober here but isnt (yet)? I’ll start: @andrewrousso Going full dark Academia with the quarter-zip clique
