Just two more reasons why Australia can never have fucking nice things. #auspol

The Australian government should be distancing itself from the Trump administration, and ensuring that our national security is protected. Trump has proven himself to have no respect for the secrets act. He's a traitor. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

God, even Crikey is reporting that Dutton has "taken the wind out of Albanese's sails" in regard to the Medicare announcement, just because Dutton has said he will match the funding dollar for dollar. The ABC did the same thing yesterday. The framing is pathetic.

The ABC is so corrupted by years of rightwing whiteanting that this sort of biased framing is where we are at. On purpose or instinctive? Who knows, but it needs to be called out.

That might be because, as Health Minister, Dutton tried to scrap Bulk Billing with a GP tax and started a 6 year freeze to Medicare rebates that slashed BILLION$ out of our Medicare Not just the “boogeyman” of Medicare, but the Thug Australian doctors ranked “the worst Health Minister in 35 years”

Do you really want to be involved in attacking Greenland? Harming Canada and Mexico? Interventions in the Panama Canal? Do you want to support white supremacy? Mass deportations? Dismantling of the law? Sign this petition for Australian sovereignty. www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/...

Hmmm is it the “self defeating virtue signalling” that’s killing off the arts or is it the systematic destruction of arts degrees, the strangulation of a pipeline of talent, and the lack of funding that’s killing off the arts? Embarrassing from a culture secretary

FFS, @australia.theguardian.com, 640km is not “off [the] coastline”. It's the same distance as London to Dijon or Burgundy, or London to Frankfurt. Get a grip.

First party to find a way to dump AUKUS wins the election. Australians don't want to be part of the Trump Reich

Blown away yet again by the quality of the journalism and commentary produced by independent news media - which I've gathered in one handy spot for you in TrueNorth. The difference between MSM & indie media is SO clear! Sign up here #auspol > truenorthnews.substack.com

About bloody time

Media concentration is a threat to democracy. Subscribe to True North and support the independent media as it underpins healthy democracy.

The former director of the ACCC Gas Inquiry is calling for a limit on gas exports. 80% of Australia’s gas is exported. They are draining the system to the point we need to start importing gas, and they price gouge us for the remaining 20%. Calling a duck a duck. #auspol

The arrogance of the rich and privileged in Australia is sickening. theaimn.net/privileged-a...

Undoubtedly also the case in Australian newsrooms including at the ABC, the national broadcaster. All that talk of the imperative of displaying "impartiality" while oozing pro-Israel bias from every pore. Unforgivable. #auspol #FreePalestine www.declassifieduk.org/battle-for-t...

Has Peter Dutton been asked by journalists why he spread this misinformation, or has he gone back into hiding? #auspol

Dr Assal Rad on Twitter— "Calling for the illegal annexation of Palestinian territory seems important. So, naturally, there is no coverage in Western news media."

“We have political leaders who insist that mining and forestry underwrite Australian prosperity. I will state it plainly. Those who believe this nonsense cannot be trusted with the wellbeing of future generations.” #auspol www.theguardian.com/business/202...

i am german 🚫 I will not travel to the USA in the next four years. 💰 I will not spend money on U.S. products. 🌍 I will support European, Canadian, and Australian businesses. 🚗 I will not buy a Tesla. 📵 I deactivated my X account.

Our politicians aren’t stupid. They’re captured. But of course, if you never criticise them, and keep voting for them, everything should work out fine.

More blatant lies from The Thug. He can’t help himself.

Congrats, ALP you really thought this one through

Yes. I live in fear that Australia will follow America

We have much to be thankful for in Australia! independentaustralia.net/politics/pol...

In a multicultural society, there is unequivocally no room for racism, especially in politics. If allegations against Peter Dutton hold true, he is unfit for leadership. Australia deserves a Prime Minister who embodies inclusivity and respect for all. NoRacism blakandblack.com/2025/02/17/a...

Australia’s long-term average interest rate (1969–2024) is 4.3%, and we’re now below that. The real issue isn’t interest rates, it’s house prices rising faster than wages.

We do NOT have an antisemitism crisis in Australia. What we DO have is the deliberate welding of antisemitism and anti-Israel protests into one hate crime to divert attention from Australia's complicity in Israel's genocide of Palestinians. And we've had an Islamophobia crisis for DECADES. #auspol

After undermining all meaningful action to protect Nature this parliament, the PM has swallowed the salmon industry’s BS hook, line and sinker 🤯😥 The industry pays little in tax & is driving species like the Maugean Skate to extinction. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

The media has focused more on polling in the past 2 days than it has on policy for the entire past 3 years. Journalists get incredibly excited about the horse race. Means they don't have to do any work.

Albanese, predictably, caves to Trump. Dutton would be even worse. We desperately need to prevent either of them getting a majority in the next Parliament. www.theage.com.au/po...

If the ABC is going to give softball interviews to "former Home Affairs secretary" Mike Pezzullo, they should really disclose to readers that he was sacked from that job for 14 breaches of the Code of Conduct

The PM is making an extraordinary intervention to protect foreign-owned salmon farming companies, driving an endangered species to extinction. He's ignoring the science & torpedoing a long-awaited review of the damage being wreaked upon Macquarie Harbour. @eloise-carr.bsky.social on ABC News:

#BREAKING All five artistic teams shortlisted for the 61st Venice Biennale have released a joint statement in support of winning duo Khaled Sabsabi and Michael Dagostino who were dumped by Creative Australia following media and political pressure. The group calls for them to be reinstated.

Translation: "Creative Australia says deselecting the Lebanese-born artist will ensure their white supremacy credentials are more visible at home in racist Australia and to the world at large." www.theguardian.com/artanddesign...

"—the Labor-Coalition political class—intends doing nothing to prevent the total destruction of Palestine, to whatever degree Israel/the US contravene int'l law, incl all aspects of the genocide convention, all rights of self-determination, & crimes against humanity." johnmenadue.com/australian-p...

Creative Australia ditching Khaled Sabsabi as our representative at the Venice Biennale is an extraordinary denial of artistic freedom by our supposedly leading & independent arts advocate. A week ago Sabsabi said he thought the honour "wouldn’t happen because of who I am.” Turns out he was right.

This is literally an attempt to incite hatred by the Telegraph. Everyone involved in this including editors and management should be ashamed of themselves. And fired. www.smh.com.au/national/nsw...

So glad Labor had the guts to say no to AUKUS, avoiding a scenario where we'd now be handing billions of dollars over to a country run by a narcissistic psychopath who would sell us to China or Russia or whoever for a back rub.
