Yep! @mollyjongfast.bsky.social reminds us that Trumpism doesn’t scale—just ask Blake Masters or Kari Lake, Doug Mastriano or Herschel Walker. Her latest in @vanityfair www.vanityfair.com/news/story/t...

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’ve never respected a Harvard student more than right now www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

Seeing as Emil Bove personally fired me from DOJ in retaliation for prosecuting January 6 rioters, I don’t think he should be confirmed to a lifetime seat as a federal judge. But that’s just me.

The Court of International Trade panel that unanimously struck down Trump's "Liberation Day" and other IEEPA tariffs included a Reagan, Obama, and Trump appointee. Credit to all for defending the rule of law. Perhaps Congress could come out of hiding and do its part to help in this good cause?

To be clear: CBS offered to pay 15 million to Trump for editing an interview with his opponent in a way that he didn’t like. The world has gone mad. (Also, shouldn’t Harris now sue Fox for their editing of Trump interviews that she didn’t like??)

Watch: "Trump Media’s $2.5 Billion Bitcoin Bet Resembles White House Crypto Strategy" with Brittany Lewis for @forbes.com

This’ll be just like when the trump Admin 1.0 publicly broke up with Sidney Powell but they kept working together anyhow.

This was delicious. He’s going to be obsessed for days about this.

Just finished watching Garry Kasparov With Charlie Sykes: The Putinization of America - very interesting www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vSz...

I don't frequently find myself in full agreement with Justice Gorsuch, but his dissent from SCOTUS' decision not to hear a case involving the destruction of a site that is sacred to Western Apaches seems to me not only legally correct, but beautifully written. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

The Fifth Amendment guarantee of due process extends to all persons, not just citizens. The Congressman needs a refresher.

Because free speech.

Michael “Mike” Nedd, a 30-year veteran of Bureau of Land Management who serves as deputy director for administration and programs, was removed Tuesday. He had reportedly told career employees to ignore a memo from an appointee of the U.S. DOGE Service.

We live in a world where mainstream journalists are apologizing to members of the Trump family. Kill. Me. Now.

Notably: The Chrisleys were indicted by a federal grand jury in 2019, during the first Trump administration. The Trump-nominated U.S. attorney was BJay Pak. In Jan. 2021, Pak was forced to resign after Trump became convinced he wasn’t doing enough to investigate purported election fraud in GA.

FBI Director Kash Patel and his Deputy Dan Bongino have identified three top priority cases for the Bureau. It may not look like much on the surface, but the implications are concerning. Here, nuance is everything. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

Memorial Day weekend recap. Note: Subscription to Heather's Substack is free.

Threats against federal judges have risen drastically since President Trump took office, according to internal data compiled by the U.S. Marshals Service.

“On any given day, Donald Trump is just an endless stream of addled nonsense,” says Chris Hayes. Alexi McCammond and Faiz Shakir join to discuss.

"It indicates that Trump could care less..." Susan Rice, former national security adviser in the Obama administration, shares her concerns about Donald Trump's dismantling of the National Security Council.

A reminder that none of this is true about AOC, it’s demonstrably and provably untrue, and it’s being pushed by the kind of C-list (ok, D-list?) celebs who flock to Trump and MAGA:

This guy stole $10 million from the employees of his nursing home to buy himself a luxury yacht and Cartier watches. He PLED GUILTY. And because his Mom gave Trump $1 million, he just got a pardon. And this story barely makes the news today. WTF. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/27/u...

Elon can't even get right something we accomplished over 60 years ago... and your tax dollars are paying for it. That's the waste, fraud and abuse.

So a public company that in 2024 had $3.62 million in total revenue (somewhat better than the average McDonald’s restaurant) and suffered a $401 million net loss is raising $2.5 billion in capital to buy … {checks notes} … bitcoin. Guess whose company it is. www.reuters.com/business/tru...

At the Pentagon, personality conflicts persist and inexperience reigns, fueling internal speculation about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s long-term viability in President Trump’s Cabinet.

Border czar Tom Homan, captain of the "zero tolerance" policy that split migrant parents from their kids, was paid money by the private-prison company that profits off detaining immigrants. Drain the swamp www.washingtonpost.com/business/202... @douglasmac.bsky.social @aaronschaffer.com

The Trump administration has deported tens of thousands of migrants from the U.S. this year. One journey underscores how companies make money at nearly every step of the process.

Excellent commencement speech by a friend of #GabrielAllon

It’s Nippon. Not Nissan. Nissan is cars. Nippon is steel. bsky.app/profile/acyn...

I cannot stress enough how much of a Def Con 1 moment this is. Federal judges fear that the President of the United States will stand down security for judges in retaliation for adverse decisions. This is such a huge story.

“An analysis found that the claim that 1.4 million undocumented migrants were on Medicaid was false. People living in the US without immigration papers are not eligible for the federal program other than to receive emergency medical treatment.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

SV DATE: “There was an implicit understanding that access to the Republican nominee meant you would not portray him as a fundamental, proven threat to American democracy. Which, of course, he was — and continues to prove himself to be…” www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...

Sen. Ron Johnson says there's enough opposition in the Senate to hold up Trump's 'big, beautiful' bill

“In the past four months, the lower courts have done more than other government entities to respond to the chaos emanating from the Trump administration. . . .The Supreme Court, by contrast, has undermined lower courts seeking to protect the rule of law.” www.nytimes.com/2025/05/25/o...

The Trump administration’s move to end deportation protections for wartime allies who fled to the U.S. after the fall of Afghanistan has infuriated veterans, who say the U.S. government is betraying a sacred promise.

Which news outlet is actually informing its readers about what happened?

Transcripts and FEMA are disappearing as tariffs and tariff threats come and go. No ranting or obvious agonizing here, just @hcrichardson.bsky.social calmly connecting three dots to tell a disquieting story. Which only magnifies its impact. open.substack.com/pub/heatherc...

We make jokes about this sometimes because it’s laughable. But when journalists try to make sense of the nonsensical, rational out of the irrational, and coherence out of the incoherence, they affirmatively do the public interest great harm.

A Wyoming lodge bills itself as a staging ground for the “Network State.” @awinston.bsky.social & @jasonaw.bsky.social expose “Wagon Box,” a rural hangout rooted in an extremist idea. Guests include Oakland agitator Seneca Scott & journalist James Pogue (?) www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Remember how yesterday I tweeted that none of us could possibly prepare for how undignified and creepy the Trump commencement address at West Point would be? Easiest prediction I ever made, not that I make very many

Analysis by Will Oremus: Over the past two weeks, Elon Musk's Grok committed a string of bizarre blunders that might make it difficult for the AI to gain mainstream credibility.

Like I said a few times before, it was NEVER about campus protests or anti-semitism. It was always about seizing control of higher education through govt blackmail and coercion.

The most important attribute of any commencement speech is that it be SHORT. Eg: George Marshall's at Harvard in 1947, laying out what became Marshall Plan plus groundwork for his Nobel prize, was 10 minutes long. Also: Never WEAR A HAT. Unless it's one of those academic weird ones. Not MAGA cap.

Trump gave Ed Martin a top DOJ role after GOP senators blocked his nomination for D.C. U.S. attorney. Experts say he’s using his new position to target political opponents and cast doubt on future elections. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

This is retaliatory, because their leaders dared speak out against ICE detentions.

Ya gotta read this one But we ALL should always read @hccmal.bsky.social The mad king is deteriorating right in front of our eyes The GOP is doing all it can to hide the facts heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/may-23-202...
