A5: The TILE Network (@tilenetwork.bsky.social) had an excellent speaker last semester on the difference between feedback and advice and it was eye-opening and thought-provoking. #LTHEchat

A6: Interesting. I think it is important that feedback provides students with concrete ways on how they can apply it to future assessments. Having 2-3 suggestions for them to focus on gives them a better direction. Also, don't overload them with too much feedback. Less is sometimes more. #LTHEchat

A4: Increasing the feedback turnaround time by a week helped release the pressure on markers and increased our marking quality. It was 15 days before for our large cohorts and is now 20. #LTHEchat

I rely on rubrics to keep myself consistent between different marking sessions 😀 #LTHEchat

A4: Rubrics have been a time-saver, but they also foster transparent moderation procedures. I support a team of 7 markers & I can quickly check if the highlighted rubrics aligns with the grades and is applied consistently. It also makes for productive discussions between markers. #LTHEchat

A3: My dissertation students each write a 2-page bullet-pointed introduction. During our group meeting, the students read each other's introductions and provide feedback. The feedback receiver makes notes and replies to all comments the week after. #LTHEchat

A2: I use marking rubrics and as an activity students use the same rubric to evaluate their reports the week before the deadline. It gives them the chance to self-assess and to interact with the rubric. Both helps them to make final improvements to their reports before submission. #LTHEchat

I have a "kindness" email folder that captures nice student emails/comments. I also make a folder of student comments and refer to it when things are rough.

I agree. I thought spreading some evals positivity would be refreshing at the start of the new semester. Good idea with the Canva graphic.
