Bit of Sunday morning planning. Hot Cross Bun helps.😊 #PowerUpYourPedagogy #EduSky

Some days in teaching are pearls. Other days you're just dealing with irritants.

First online parents evening done in several years and it's safe to say I have not warmed to them. I want the buzz of the school, I want parents to chat to each other as well as me. I want to showcase all the school does, and I want to not rely on the whims of technology.

Transformers have invaded my Lego street and honestly the scale works well. #Transformers #Lego

I wrote this for The National. Twitter/X us an utter sewer and it’s not suitable for schools www.thenational.scot/politics/248...

The cat knows when I'm about to have to leave the house...

One of the perks of my kids being teenagers now is no longer having to skip tracks on my playlist. If I'm cleaning the oven I need Killing in the name energy.

#SophieFromRomania taking my bookmark won’t make a walk happen any sooner

My Year in Books 2024: Part 1. I read 50 books this year, Here’s my top half, no particular order to these. I’ll list the books in a further post in this thread. A couple of my favourites were borrowed or have been lent out now. #BookSky

My local bookshop owner is marrying the author she met through the bookshop this Saturday. Thus adding to my theory that my small town is a magical place.

It's only one more sleep till Christmas.🎵 Merry Christmas everyone!

Tell me you're Scottish* without saying you're Scottish. *Delete as applicable. #IrnBru #Scotland #Ginger

Note to whoever needs it this time of year. Don't try to do three-many things at once.

Whoop whoop, it's the end of term. Cheers all!

Albert Michelson, pioneer of optical interferometry, was born #OTD in 1852. Michelson refined measurements of the speed of light, failed to find evidence of the aether, and developed a method that now underlies gravitational wave detection. 🧪 ⚛️ (1/n) Photo: “Practical Physics,” Millikan & Gale

New Christmas lights just went up in Clacton. (Farage is still the MP who makes most money from second jobs. By a long way.)

My favourite type of musical Christmas toy is the one whose batteries are running down. Witness my mother's dog, who sings 'I wish it could be Christmas every day' with all the pathos of a singer holding it all together as their life falls apart. #WishWeHadVideoOnHere

My S1s loved making onion cell slides today, shared some great pictures too. This one almost looks like a map. #PedagooFriday #Pedagoo #EduSky

#ScotEduSky incredible post here on ASN in Scotland. Almost half my pupils have ASN. Seems like this is becoming the new normal. Class size reduction and proper support essential. ASN teachers have been put back in class where I am. Make it make sense.

Getting ready to write up my paper 'Phone alarms do not wake up teenagers' Through the extensive research methodology of having two teenagers in the house. Going to get an old-fashioned bell clock.

My latest read. Thoroughly enjoyed this, discussing the progression of N, S, E, W from pure directions to embodying ideas. The final section on the moving blue dot really struck a chord, as I miss the days of physical maps, even as I enjoy exploring the world on Google Earth. #BookSky #Maps

Every year around now, I start to see grad students on social media bemoan that they’re going home for the holidays to a family that doesn’t understand their research, or what they do in general, and it breaks my heart. 🧵 🧪 #SciComm

It is time. Finally showing this to the kids, now they're old enough. #Christmas #DieHard

Not even my Christmas Lego is safe from my boy's Transformers displays. #Transformers #Lego

Star gazers in ancient Mesopotamia focused on recurring stuff like planetary motion, but sometimes they wrote about meteors. Watching from Babylon, one wrote: “Night of the 7th, last part of the night, a meteor which was very bright in the middle of the sky” oracc.museum.upenn.edu//adsd/adart1...
