Intending to go watch tomorrow. Really wanting to see the East City Films output - and very excited to have them on my Hackathon team!

Hey! The Kitchener Camp website features on someone else’s slide, for a change 😁 Wonderful - thanks so much @wienerlibrary.bsky.social

A summary of the online presence of @wienerlibrary.bsky.social and the means to search through the collections.

Lovely to meet @wienerlibrary.bsky.social team at the Brighton Holocaust Expo #ldml_25 Have emailed so much over the last couple of years, about the Kitchener website and exhibition. Lovely to put faces to names and email sign-offs. The Leave to Land Kitchener exhibition can be borrowed from WHL

And we’re off! #ldml_25 Lunchtime networking session and introduction to the DCM social media platform @ldml.bsky.social

The Connective Holocaust Commemoration Expo 2025 has begun! We kicked off with welcome remarks from Lab Director Prof. Victoria Grace Richardson-Walden and Vice Chancellor of University of Sussex Sasha Roseneil. #ldml_25

Find out about the work of MEMORISE, a major EU-funded research project exploring ways of using digital tools to access Nazi-era sites of incarceration. With @memoriseeu.bsky.social @hebrewuniversity.bsky.social, Fluxguide, Radboud University, @belsenmemorial.bsky.social. #ldml_25

Tell me there’s a Sussex town called cheese!

Having finished my paper for the Holocaust Expo a while ago, I’m treating myself to a day out. Hard to take trips round Kent and Sussex too seriously, which is about right, given (waves hands) all that’s going on.

Keynotes & roundtables available online 👉 Pixels & Hashtags of the Past: The Holocaust in the Digital Age  👉 Conserving and Communicating the Indescribable 👉 Computer Games and Holocaust Memory 👉 What is the Future of Holocaust Memory on Social Media?   www.digitalmemorylab.com/events/

Well, it all kicks off in Brighton tomorrow! #ldml_25 The Inaugural Connective Holocaust Commemoration Expo I’ll be presenting on Kitchener Camp: Towards VR And participating in a Hackathon to assist with getting my ideas off the ground Looking forward to seeing lots of folk in person or online

1 advantage of many in having relatives from diff countries is learning as a UK child how to manage extremes of temperature in a country not built for them An uncle is Maltese & I spent many wonderful summers there Close up the house *before* the day heats up, inc windows curtains/blinds & hydrate

Current heatwave expected to kill almost 600 people in England and Wales - analysis - The spike in deaths would not be occurring without human-caused global heating, scientists say, with the elderly most at risk #climatecrisis Story by me www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Lying on the bed in the rental near Brighton, all set for @ldml.bsky.social Expo next week Curtains drawn & windows now closed against the heat. Fortunate to be able to stay put and wait it out. Hoping the weather breaks as forecast. Way too old for this heat in the context of UK infrastructure

I suspect shortage of anaesthetists is also overworking those remaining As I lay in pre-op, wired for sound & anaesthesia, pleasantly drowsy from the first drugs but not yet under, my almost-slumber was rudely & 🤬 painfully interrupted by the anaesthetist tripping into the tubes fixed into my arm 😱

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on. slate.com/technology/2...

Can't join us for the Expo? You can watch all keynotes and roundtables remotely, online. Put the dates and times in your diary and join us here: lnkd.in/edGDsHCv

If you get the chance - & it’s perfect weather for a trip to the southeast coast! - do take a look at the Leave to Land Kitchener camp exhibition currently showing at the marvellous @sandwichmuseum.bsky.social It’s run by the loveliest people, and they also hold some original Kitchener camp items.

Chatting to the BBC, as one does, about the Kitchener Camp rescue on the annual trip to Sandwich this week, where the camp was located. It’s the first time I’ve had a chance to return since 2019, and it was lots of fun. Thank you @theajruk.bsky.social for organising the trip and the BBC interview!

We're days away from the Connective Holocaust Commemoration Expo 2025 but development of our flagship resource the Digital Memory Database continues. Read the final part of our blog series on what's been going on behind the scenes: www.digitalmemorylab.com/building-a-l...

Well! That was a super fun meet-up in Sandwich arranged @theajruk.bsky.social for Kitchener families and interested parties. Glorious sunshine and a lovely crowd. With thanks to the Toll Bridge restaurant for excellent fish & chips, and @sandwichmuseum.bsky.social for the Leave to Land exhibition

IT’S TOO HOT! IN KENT! I’m a heritage mix of German-Polish borderlands and Sunderland. I was not built for this 🥵

Say goodbye to 1.5°C. But remember, the next target is 1.51°C and not 2°C. We need to keep fighting. Every tonne of CO₂ emitted makes the job of future CO₂ removal harder, and every 0.01°C of temperature increase makes the world more chaotic and dangerous.

Block lists can be a great bit of kit

Kitchener camp is a SIG @theajruk.bsky.social And they’ve organised us another lovely day out to commemorate the rescue from concentration camps of our fathers and grandfathers at Kitchener camp in 1939. Really looking forward to it! Below - the beach at Sandwich where the refugees went for R&R
