I have a subliminal stress response. I amp up my physical activity in response to adversity. I’ve been getting up at 4 am to ride for hours before work. I haven’t ridden this hard since the delta wave of the pandemic. I am so sorry. 😞

Even when I am late, I cannot bear to pass up beauty, for it is the vigour at which my heart beats and not number of times it skips that reminds me of what part of time matters.

Some mornings are more surreal than others.

Bruises... 'With a strong spirit and movement, you can heal every bruise.' This photo is for @drdagly.bsky.social who I thought of when I was out last night running in the river valley. Also for all those folks who heal in the valley. #photography #ice #rivers #spring #bruises #alberta #yeg

As I popped out of the river valley like a love drunk coyote, I was greeted by the perfect confluence of cirrus cloud play and dusk-glow caressing my favourite pine tree. ❤️❤️

I have been getting up early to ride the trails while they are still frozen. It’s been worth it.

I remain Enchanted by The light.

I will sit with you here. And listen not only to your words. But your heart. And when you feel that You cannot find the words, I will have already known your pulse. And I will commiserate with you Until you are ready to go on.

Let’s be clear. Healthcare is a human right. It is a foundation, like education that builds and sustains society. It should never be about profit and it never generates revenue. It’s about a patient’s needs & not a shareholder’s return. Anyone who tells you otherwise is stealing.

Practically daylight out here, ample seating & you won’t perish in the cold! Three solid reasons to be @coffeeoutside.bsky.social

View from my little cabin in the woods. It’s -33, there’s been a tonne of snow, and my solar system functions without a hitch through the darkest parts of winter.

It is cold, but the air is clean, the sun is out and for a moment the world is quiet. I’m off to work out some demons.

In the end, We are all the memories Of those who felt our gravity. But the difference between A totem and a curse Was the intent with which We took the air From the room.

In case you missed it last week, Tim Cartmell took to his keyboard to say that Mayor Sohi thinks the drug crisis "is not a problem". Cartmell told such an easily-disprovable, egregious lie. Thankfully, @mastermaq.bsky.social and @stephanieswensrude.bsky.social at Taproot were keeping an eye on it.

The best of the weekend to you. I hope you find what sustains you. Coffee is always a good place to start.

ChristoFascist special on The Fifth Estate.

Mr Hobbes is always taking me off the beaten path. He is and has always been, a good doggo.

It’s been a rough week at work. I have spent much of it consoling families and guiding them through the unfathomable. I have apologized for things beyond my control, and offered to shoulder their guilt so some of the immense weight of impossible choices could be off loaded. I’m a bit sad right now.

At this temperature the bike is unyielding. The tires turn into plastic and even with the proper grease nothing turns well. But I need to be outside, and I’m lucky to have a warm place to repair to. I remain thankful for each breath regardless of how laboured.

Mashed a bunch of fresh snow. Roosted, tail whipped and giggled my whole way to work this morning.

This glint of of sun warms me far more than it should.
