New, by me, in The Critic, on the forthcoming curriculum review: thecritic.co.uk/educashun-ed...

If they lied about this surely all remaining credibility will have gone: www.telegraph.co.uk/money/tax/la...

I do like the Courtauld but these are rather silly categories

Venus very visible above Westminster tonight.

Perhaps it's the other way round.

Kingston-Upon-Thames has some of the ugliest and stupidest street 'art'

Today's article in @thetimes.com on the research we're doing into perfectionism in girls

An article on the research we're doing at LEH on perfectionism in girls, led by @chloecombi.bsky.social and written by @nicolawoolcock.bsky.social High-achieving girls learn that sometimes good is better than perfect www.thetimes.com/article/8967...

There are some things I don't understand. Putting woolly hats on things is one of them.

@sonia-sodha.bsky.social a stupid question perhaps: but why is there no coverage in the Observer of the proposed sale to Tortoise and also the forthcoming strike?

Bargain.

This is nonsensical. David Cameron means it shortens dying. Words matter, or they should do.

I hope the weather doesn't put the farmers off.

The left hate those who were once in their tribe but who have now moved right. I thought journalists were supposed to be pro-freedom of speech.

@j-amesmarriott.bsky.social has written a very good piece on the fragmentation of social media. I suppose in the short term people with two accounts will post in both, but will soon tire of this additional effort, and go down to one, or none: www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

Marin Hyde in today's Guardian

So now where do we go?

New by me in The Critic: my review of Adrian Chiles's weird collection of articles: thecritic.co.uk/a-book-about...

I wrote about the government's decision to scrap Ofste'd single-word judgements for schools for CapX here: capx.co/education-is...

New, by me, in CapX: capx.co/our-children...

This is what a classroom of the future looks like to ChatGPT. Good they've got class sizes down. All looks really affordable.

Not sure if 'afraid' is the best choice of word in the headline, but this is a good piece by @marthagill.bsky.social on the innate fairness of exams (over other forms of assessment). Remains a concern to think Peter Hyman is so close to policy.

This is wonderful, by Lucy Peebles, in today's FT. Will resonate with all parents.

Why will @bsky.app not end up like Twitter under Dorsey or X under Trump? Surely it's just time and if it continues to grow in popularity. The loonies from left and right will come (some are already here).

Is the x-odus to @bluesky more pronounced in the 'caring professions' such as teaching because, quite simply, @X is felt to be a less compassionate place than it used to be? Certainly many more people in education posting here since the riots...

Michael Gove on why exams work - and the failures of reforms in Wales and England. In today's Times

Is it possible to link articles to @bsky.app? Nothing pops up when I'm reading @nytimes.com or anything else...

A new Substack (which basically takes you to a recent piece by me on why the appointment of Becky Francis to lead the curriculum review is a concern). substack.com/home/post/p-...

Begin afresh, afresh, afresh

So, welcome to all the new people to Blue Sky. Don't make a noise here as we value its peace and quiet

Why continue to use #bluesky when nobody else seems to be doing so?

Hi @bsky.app why am I regularly being asked to login to my account on the app?
