Made this recipe for the first time. It is *unholy*; almost equal parts dairy and potato. But it is *so* good. Worth it. (I used slightly less sour cream than the recipe calls for) www.allrecipes.com/recipe/27652...

Roses are red Rims can be chrome

As someone who *lives in Wellington*, can I offer the personal opinion that it's Good to have more than 1 left of centre candidate running for mayor? The other 5 range from small-minded conservative NIMBY to far right loon. Wellington uses STV. Shifting the centre of voting gravity left is Good.

The Post's social media team pointed out that this was one story by stuff & the other by the post, who have separate editorial teams. Doesn't change the general point, just two good bits of local reporting by two different teams!

i'm watching a group of conservative law professors insist that there is a grand debate over birthright citizenship that somehow escaped generations of scholarship and only popped into existence after a right-wing president announced an effort to nullify the 14th amendment.

...just heard a tieke/saddleback calling in my back yard or a neighbouring one. First time in 2 1/2 years here. Never thought I'd see (hear) the day. Reasonably close to Zealandia but nowhere near to backing onto its fence, so it's ranged quite far! Magic.

Oh yay a new SF release from a big five publishing house by an established author with huge advanced buzz let's go to the online catalogue for NZ bookstores and see who might have it in st... oh. Usually I just get "not in stock please wait a month post-release". "We haven't heard of this" is new.

I'd like someone to explain to me slowly *what exactly* the unwise spending is that half the opinion-havers in Wellington (and outside) allege *the current council* has engaged in. Bike lanes? Decision of the last council, & comparatively cheap. Town hall? Hands tied by heritage & past councils. ...

One of my most anticipated books of the year. Fellman's never put out a bad book, and his best work is outright genius.

Pleased to see this, & pleased to see it was in part facilitated by a bequest from John Nankervis. I worked with Nank; a really interesting guy who worked in big law his whole adult life but found his freedom in the outdoors. www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

Will be interesting to see The Post's treatment of Andrew Little. I suspect it'll be generally positive support, given a) many of their staff seem to personally dislike the current mayor but b) they seem to have pretty quickly realised none of the very right wing challengers are viable.
