WHAT DOES TRUMP EVEN GET FROM FIRING JEROME POWELL? In today's newsletter, I went long on the question of what really backs the US dollar, and how I don't even see the short-term win if Powell attempts to sack the Fed chair Sub here to the newsletter: www.bloomberg.com/account/news...

Winker. Fuck yes.

I don't understand the rationale for playing McNeil in CF when Acuña is perfectly capable of doing so and has started to look much better offensively.

Soto laser!

Look at these dismal charts in the Empire Fed survey. And this is a survey of regional *manufacturers*

Acuña seems to be really hitting his stride and I would really like to see him get some burn in CF if Siri is going to be out for a bit.

Soto bomb baby!!!

Vientos heating up!!

Well done by Holmes to regroup and limit the damage there. Let’s score some runs!

The Trump administration’s revealed belief is that American workers & businesses are so economically inept that not only can they not compete against China, but they cannot compete against unionized European autoworkers or Canadian steelworkers or Korean chipmakers. I have more faith in Americans.

Not a whole lot of tariff impact on the March PPI (-0.4%/2.7%) but there is one blaring warning sign. The steel tariffs were imposed during March, and American steel mill producers used the opportunity to raise prices by 7.1%. That's exactly the effect economists would expect.

TRUMP: China wants a deal. CHINA: 125%. No backsies.

Pete going for 195 RBIs. But are the Marlins trying to lose?

Nimmo!!!!

My darkest fear about the tariffs is that negative economic ramifications end up being dwarfed by the negative geopolitical consequences.

Sure, we're all 10% poorer today than we were yesterday, but at least Megill is cruising on the mound through 4 today!
