Cars are deadly weapons.

During the USDOT announcement on the FRA reviewing CA’s HSR, Rep. Doug LaMalfa said: '...we need to put this into infrastructure people need—building lakes, building reservoirs. You can build 24 $5 billion lakes.' One of the most unhinged car-brain takes imaginable.

USDOT Secretary Duffy announced a federal investigation/audit of CA High-Speed Rail- with 60+ protesters shouting in support of rail

I can’t believe it - after years of advocacy, exclusionary zoning has ended in Cambridge. We just passed the single most comprehensive rezoning in the US—legalizing multifamily housing up to 6 stories citywide in a Paris style Here’s the details 🧵

An unfortunate reality in today's cities, as highlighted by @nerd4cities.bsky.social It's especially disheartening to see dense housing built next to freeways to shield single-family homes from pollution, as seen in Roosevelt, Seattle, along I-5.

Very cool to see the ridership history of the Link in Seattle and how quickly it's growing—even with the setback of COVID. I have high hopes for both the system and the city as a whole!

Rest in peace, Professor Shoup (1938-2025) We will keep up the good work. Share your stories and thoughts with the parking reform community here: parkingreform.org/donald-shoup

Gen Z and past generations have consistently moved to large cities, showing a clear demand for urban living with walkability and transit. The real question is: why do they leave as they get older? We can attempt to solve this with more housing and better zoning in cities rather than suburbs.

Bike lanes like this would transform US cities overnight. What are we waiting for?

Increased weekend and off-peak service leads to more people using public transportation—who could have guessed?

A new report from the MTA Board Meeting from today shows that NYC subways have the lowest operating cost per ride in the US at $3.00 per trip, compared to: • CTA (Chicago): $6.16 per trip • WMATA (DC): $11.70 per trip • BART (SF Bay Area): $15.38 per trip

Morally unable to support the city that ranked number one on this list (due to a certain university…), but this video is a great reminder that living in an urban city with a car-free or car-lite lifestyle doesn’t require moving to NYC, SF, or the most expensive U.S. cities.

For those with @nebula.tv, highly recommend @citybeautiful.nebula.tv's newest video on punishing bad drivers, linked to over 42 thousand deaths and 2.3 million injuries per year in the US alone. While there's no simple solution, it's clear that change is needed. nebula.tv/videos/cityb...

Far from the high speed rail that the US actually needs but would be a good start to expand rail transit across the country
