Apparently not part of the customs zone, so my oversight. Only real export is sugar cane, so probably the reason for the high tariff is to “protect” corn syrup production.

I love sketching on an iPad because it provides all the satisfaction of “real drawing” with all the benefits of digital. Been sketching fully analog recently to try to bring back all the feels, but I do feel a bit limited.

Probably been planning for months already. I feel like I should focus on one obscure industry (likely in defense) and syphon expertise while it’s ripe for the taking and there’s appetite for growth here.

For the record, I have no experience setting up a successful business in Europe, it’s just such a clear opportunity that I feel like I should figure it out.

I might be willing to offer you a discounted reciprocal relocation package

Not looking to capitalize on others’ pain, but I’m also semi-seriously trying to figure out how I might be able to capitalize on others’ pain by helping (re)set up these businesses in Europe. Keep the knowledge and expertise together before it gets lost.

Here in NL sandwiches are often served )and eaten) with knife and fork. Many sandwiches are even purposely made hard to pick up. I’ve never gotten used to seeing a burger eaten with cutlery though.

I suppose that’s not a bad strategy. A good EV base with mediocre badge-engineered looks and (I assume) a drab interior instead of the cool Renault one. For some people that’s a perfect combo. Like a reverse Arno.

Is the Micra a rebadged R5 with Twingo headlamps? I’m honestly a bit confused.

They were probably so excited that they managed to find a “sciency” word that had “frat” in it that they ignored the significant obvious downsides. Seems to me how the entire car was conceived if I’m honest.

Definitely nothing at all to do with the hyper-macho douchebag abuser vibes and everything to do with woke.

Yeah, it’s terrible. The Peugeot-styled Renaults are so bizarre.

Is this a facelift of the Espace, or is a Mitsubishi version of the Espace? It looks like the stupid new one but the lamp graphic and grill are weird.

Totally! That’s a false equivalence that is very rarely needed or useful. But the range vs. charging speed conversation is relevant and real for certain use cases. Ironically the long-distance requirements are more important for me because I rarely use my car for urban driving due to train and bike.

Auto train would be so cool. Charging speed is the way we get equivalence with known infrastructure. If you can use home or slow charging infrastructure this is rarely needed, but when those aren’t practical/available, it becomes more than just inconvenient. It can really be scary.

I agree that for most people, most of the time, driving an EV is easier. For me, as an advocate and professional in the EV space, long trips are still a blocker. I only stop every 5 hours while doing transcontinental trips, which I do at least once per year. EV makes a 2-day drive a 3-day one.

They’ve really turned Skoda into low-rent VW now. It had so many clever cars that built the brand up over a generation and now they’re barely even distinguishable from one another.

I feel like the Roomster gets all the weird car love, but the Yeti is underrated. Has clever sliding Honda Jazz-style seats and a huge trunk for the footprint, but also feels as agile and stable as a regular golf (until you put big chunky off-road tires on it, of course).

When my daughter was little she hated headphones, but we never allowed her to turn up the volume on the plane. Either watch it without sound or use headphones, sorry sweetie!

Not sure who did it. Could have been colleagues, but that it’s on an official sign is a nice touch!

Pushing it hard with 60 power-swap stations already online here in Northern Europe.

I am American, but left quite a long time ago. Really just playing off the stereotypes that were easy pickings from that thread. It’s just stark how those conversations just don’t exist here, although annihilation at the hands of the Russians is.
