Movies you’ve watched more than six times, gifs only

Boris explains it all. 🤪

Appeasement. History has something to say about that doesn’t it?

The UK is facing a critical failure in medical workforce planning. Thousands of doctors are trapped in a bottleneck, blocked from progressing due to a shortage of training posts. This has been a crisis that was foreseeable and entirely preventable. www.ft.com/content/ddb5...

Dr Purbrick said practices are ‘considering all options’ because there is a ‘nervousness around all aspects of the GP contracts’ and ‘what most practices spend on staff far exceeds what they’re actually getting through GMS funding’. www.gponline.com/gp-practices...

This is what happens when you cut funding, but 'protect the front line'. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Oh FFS not this again. The NHS is chronically under-managed, more admin burden on clinical staff means less clinical work gets done. I also note we’re still clutching the ‘more with less’ straw. Disappointing doesn’t cover it @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/01...

We now have two (2!) CPD days available to book: Cardiac disease in surgical patients. Virtual. 12th March 2025. Paediatric anaesthesia update. In person. 1st April 2025. For programmes, more information and booking visit www.oxfordcpd.com/booking. #Medsky #Anaesky

1,391 practices have closed since 2015 Factors causing this can include partner retirements, the inability to recruit staff or GP partners Whilst the GP workforce has been declining, the number of patients continues to increase, demonstrating the ever-mounting workload www.bma.org.uk/advice-and-s...

It takes some chutzpah for the guy who was a home office minister and member of a government that presided over a decade of neglect of the courts and justice system to stand up and complain about the mess they left behind. Like s***ing the bed then moaning about the smell.

Here @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social being told that a qualified GP can’t get a job is signing on (Oct 2024) He has allocated £80m to PCNs to employ 1000 GPs - just 200 have been because it’s an ill thought out scheme, too restrictive & no security Just fund GP practices & let them employ GPs

PCN ARRS 176 FTE salaried GPs & 13 FTE locums in Dec ‘24 Headcount 348 salaried GPs & 20 locums 65 FTE salaried GPs & 5 locums in June - so the gain 111 salaried & 8 locums JUST 119 FTE GPs Headcount 157 salaried & 11 locum GPs in PCNs in June 2024 MAX gain is only 200 GPs

Don’t Look Up. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

There are a lot of acronyms involved in the treatment of cancer! As a part of our Oncoanaesthesia edition, Weaver & @DrSusannahP.bsky.social provide an overview of common neoadjuvant regimens and their toxicities. #AnSky #MedSky #OncSky https://buff.ly/42enyI9

Truss attempts to cease and desist objective reality. Seems about right.

Failure to retain the staff trained in the UK, letting skilled & knowledgable staff leave by focus on numbers of staff not retention This is failure @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social @nhsengland.bsky.social @nhsemployers.bsky.social

Our next virtual CPD day - “Cardiac Disease in Surgical Patients” takes place on the 12th March. Register now for access! www.oxfordcpd.com/booking

Labour haven’t got more GPs The summer plan was for 1000 GPs via ARRS scheme so far just 65 have been recruited in the latest figures This is because it’s restricted funding & not given to practices to recruit directly GPs are unemployed due to no funding (There were 73 PCN GPs prior to June)

NHS England would be better using AI for their referral pathways rather than the current incumbents AI understands patients need to see a GP🤷🏻‍♂️ @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social I despair at the current state of NHS England planning, funding more GPs will save £Millions in care & referrals

Dont know which genius at NHS England came up with this plan to cut waiting lists by INCREASING demand - but they should take a bow for possibly the most stupid idea ever. You don’t need a CT to diagnose rhinitis- nor an ENT reg. #ValueGeneralPractice www.england.nhs.uk/long-read/re...

So this is the new great idea🤔 I’m pretty sure if Sarah had seen a GP she wouldn’t have needed to have a CT scan, no need to speak to the ENT registrar & yes it could be managed in the community Why does NHS England always underestimate the skills of GPs? www.england.nhs.uk/long-read/re...

Bucket list ✅

Really good article, illustrates the issues we seem to have been talking about for years. I wonder when @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social and co will cotton on? www.thetimes.com/article/1130...

A (very boozy) Christmas package for the theatre team goes missing en route. DHL - “Soz, we can’t find it 🤷‍♂️”

In our submission to the DDRB we're recommending a pay uplift that will restore doctors' pay to 2008/2009 levels, accounting for RPI inflation. The Government's own suggestion of 2.8% would fall far beneath that, demonstrating a poor grasp of unresolved pay issues in the NHS. 🧵 (1/4)

How this guy still has his licence to practice is quite something.

Whoa

Warm, fuzzy good feedback vibes 😀😀😀 #medsky

Headline @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social promises support for GPs There is a huge problem, however, with Amanda Pritchard’s response GP services are not virtual beds/community diagnostic centres Happy to help point her in the right direction www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/202...

First BlueSky post! Our next virtual anaesthetic CPD day is TOMORROW! Don’t miss it! Register here: www.oxfordcpd.com/booking

Last chance to book onto our next virtual CPD day taking place on Friday! (Recordings available if you can’t make it ‘live’) www.oxfordcpd.com/booking

GP practices closing, redundancies, unemployed GPs & cuts in patient access @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social This is not a time to release information in the ‘usual way’. That’s the reason GPs are where they are, 20% cuts in £/patient funding & uncertainty over the future won’t help. #TeamGP

What did the cheese say to itself in the mirror? Halllllllooooome!

Celebrating failure! Why @gmcuk.bsky.social could possibly think "with more doctors than ever before choosing locally employed (LE) roles" Please confirm that this was not a "choice" Drs have no choice as training pathways are blocked 25% now 67% just 12yrs ago, it used to be 90% in my day!
