Things I did today: - Woke up, took a shower and listened to a podcast. - Played a game of Dota (won!). - Ran to check 'rents house, got lunch & read Wind & Truth some. - Came home, unloaded dishwasher, remade bed. - Got gold stake on 2 Balatro decks. - Dinner & FC Cincinnati game (won!) - Tea, bed.

Improv troupe performed tonight at the large, established local improv theater as part of a stage-sharing arrangement we have with one of their teams. It was the culmination of about 3 months of pretty grueling rehearsals and we absolutely crushed it. Very proud of my people.

Been on a Football Manager hiatus while my batteries recharge, and my Factorio group finished our run. So I've been ticking off Balatro ranks and challenges. Balatro does so many things well, but one of the things it really nails is the feeling of incremental mastery of a game's systems.

Friend group finished our Factorio Space Age playthrough today. Very satisfying expansion. Have had my fill of it for the time being (mostly because of Gleba) but super curious to see what the mission community will have whipped up in a year or two.

Last time the Eagles looked this good, they were carrying Frodo and Sam out of Mordor.

It's called a "tote bag" which is short for "totally a bag."

I had a pretty good improv show yesterday but stressing out about it meant my batteries were pretty much drained today. The universe threw me a bone: two perfectly ripe avocados for the guacamole I made with dinner. Thanks, avocados. Thavocados.

Watched Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl this evening. A delightful film with multiple gags that perfectly split the uprights of great goof and extremely economical for plot and pacing purposes.

Vacation is nice, but coming home and being able to laze about in your own space in your slightly ratty pajamas is an underappreciated comfort.

As XKCD once put it, sports are just weighted number generators used to build narratives. Which makes my deep roleplaying relationship with the Football Manager video game that much stranger. And yet, I love my digital stat block blorbos. I like the little stories they tell me.

It is a singular cruelty of evolution that you cannot tickle yourself but you can still feel every single nerve ending when working out one of your own knotted muscles.

Sometimes, when I'm preparing to entertain guests in the next day or two, I wonder how much of making plans to host is me enjoying playing host, and how much is a self-preservation instinct to force me to clean my house.

I got into an elevator yesterday and the close door button actually did something, and I'm still riding that high.

Things I did this weekend: - Saw Hundreds of Beavers in a theater. Would recommend seeing it in any medium. - Played Power Grid in person with some friends. - Finally beat Inscryption. Thought it stuck the landing. - Factorio and Dota. - Discovered my preferred Indian place does buffet on Sundays.

@dankmccoy.bsky.social the strong applause the British audience gave to the revelation that you watched The Avengers on a plane has me cracking up.

Enjoyed watching Liverpool dominate Manchester City yesterday, followed by an evening spent getting Gleba in a good state in my Factorio group game. The planet definitely deserves its reputation for difficulty but I've really come to enjoy it.

After two days of Thanksgiving socializing, spent a day absorbed in my own pursuits. Got brunch, caught up on Zealand's FM streams, played 2 games of Dota and won both. Made some tacos for dinner. A fine Saturday.

Unbranded November Writing Month: 50,017. This was a fun one. First time in a while I've been pleased with a plot coming out of novel writing month. Uncertain if I want to clean this one up but it was interesting all the way through.

Unbranded November Writing Month: 48,451 One day worth of writing left and I'm basically exactly where I want to be - I just need a little outro and this year's piece is all buttoned up. Was able to put the Liverpool game on in the background today and later walked uptown to grab a beer & burg.

Unbranded November Writing Month: 46,737 Spent too much time tonight playing Factorio but still cranked out like 1.9k somehow. Off to bed with me. Hopefully tomorrow is a fairly quiet pre-holiday day for work.

Unbranded November Writing Month: 44,817 Took the day off to clean the house, have lunch with my dad and do a little writing. Having improv group over tonight to do a film study with two Dropout improv specials. Gotta make a casserole here in a few.

Unbranded November Writing Month: 41,086 Helped put up the tree at my folks' place today (it's early but they're in and out of town this season and it needed to get done). Got some Indian food for dinner. Chipped away steadily at writing - final 10k!
