Why are Tories suddenly using the term "white british" in debates on immgration and citizenship? www.ft.com/content/aceb...

Unexpected musical accompaniment of the day 🧐

Labour are lying when they justify cutting PIP by saying it will get people 'back into work'. It is not an unemployment benefit. PIP helps with the extra costs of being disabled. There is no job-related criteria because having a job doesn't make it any cheaper to be disabled.

Hello from the lovely #Opicina 🇮🇹 #tram. The line climbs from the port city of #Trieste up to the Karst plateau. On the steepest section, a rope-operated pod pushes the tramcar up (and slows it down on its way back) making it a sort of #funicular. The trams were built 90 years ago, in 1935.

In the early days of Facebook I made a page that claimed to be run on AI and if you commented on a post it would auto respond. But really it was me responding to the msgs. I barely went out or slept for weeks responding to msgs hoping my page would make it big. It did not.

Ambitious plans for all-private-room sleeper trains, first route to be launched in 2027. I like the look of those compartments, the demand is there, and these guys know their market: It'll be tough, but can they do it? We'll see! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mqn1...

A depressing but unsurprising story of the DB-Metrolinx divorce I don't know who needs to hear this, but if Canadian politicians want to improve in the fields where we aren't a frontrunner (e.g. transit ), they need to get rid of the current class of managers and their backward-looking culture

11 years ago and a slow journey for the Night Riviera from Paddington! 🐌 (Only joking, this is the empty stock to Old Oak Common in the morning)

There’s a Dutch phrase about feeling anxious that translates to “shitting seven colours of sludge.” A Bulgarian version is “deep in thought like a fat pig before Christmas.” But my favourite variant is the Puerto Rican como cocodrilo en fábrica de carteras, or “like a crocodile in a wallet factory.”

British government: Here's a policy British public: thanks we hate it British government: we have listened to you and yes, it turns out this policy sucks. We're not going to do it British public: You sick u-turning fucks

Not sure how this is going to work, this road is a dead end!

This is like an artwork exploring the meaning of a gate.

a cool thing about being over thirty is that you can have a large pizza and three glasses of wine and it will feel worse, body-wise, than if you'd gone on a 14-hour bender a decade before that

"Until we see what trains they order, and when those will be delivered, we cannot call these ‘plans’ but more like vague ideas,” said Jon Worth, a cross-border rail consultant. #CrossChannelRail www.ft.com/content/55a6...

On this day 40 years ago (1975): the M32 was completed. non-Bristolians may be surprised by the lengthy elevated section and cuttings, the slip road from a residential street, the bus-only junction and the missing roundabout.

More AI hallucination ... I was searching for a particular phrase to ensure I got it right, and turns out I had gotten it round the wrong way. HOWEVER Google's AI took my incorrectly ordered quote and authoritatively claimed that it is indeed a prominent quote from the series I was referencing.

the french government is running a grindr ad where a pup wearing a mesh tank top and a leather harness counts as he spanks you 3 times to remind you to get tested every 3 months, and i’m here for it

This plaque in the pavement, about halfway up Park Street marks part of the route of St John’s Conduit. Built in 1374 it ran water from a spring on Brandon Hill to the Old Town wall. It became the first public water pump within what was then the Bristol town boundary.

My regular coffee and cake order now apparently costs a devilish £6.66 👹

Who up doing unto others as they would have done unto them (being left alone)?

My message is simple: there’s hella nice mushrooms out here

The Cleveland metro population hasn’t increased in 50 years, yet the area of developed land has nearly doubled. Our cities were hollowed out, and now we need twice the infrastructure to serve the same number of people.

People in the comments are as pathetic as you'd expect, saying we don't need Pride then the next sentence is "don't rub it on our faces". Proving why we do still need to celebrate diversity and collectively get together to stick two fingers up to the bigots

Absolutely incredible twist in the plot here.

Sounds of 1994: Back in 2018, I walked through one of our original class 373 trains to capture some of the noises of equipment and doors. #TMST

"How China is tackling the high emissions (and costs) of flying between cities: ‘More passengers shuttling between China’s two biggest cities choose to hop on a bullet train rather than a flight, as airlines can't match the convenience offered by the country’s ultra-modern high-speed rail network."

Dotted around the multi-storey car park near Cathedral Walk you may notice mini sections of walkways, ladders, doors and railings. “Secret Industry” is a 2006 installation by artist John Pym and is intended to evoke the idea of a tiny, secret city hidden inside our own.

If rate my loco isn’t a thing yet it really should be 🤔 To start, this one is small but determined and looks fantastic in its setting. Utterly adorable 14 out of 10 🏆 📷 18 of 200 for Rail 200

For photo 20 of 200 to celebrate 200 years of railways it could only ever be a photo of a class 20 😊

The outbound Hebridean service from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh passes through Attadale. Dutch liveried 37025 providing motive power and accompanying soundtrack! #Class37 #Tractor #BritishRail #Scotrail #Hebridean #Attadale

I find the hardest thing about tracing long lost relatives is getting them to stay still when you press the paper onto their face.
