I get "freedom = cars" in so many places but to me, a New Yorker, having a car seems so stifling. You have to figure out where to park, how to get gas, how to get home if you have 3 beers. What's actually freeing is being able to walk places and having trains that run wherever I want to go

Dimon in January on tariffs - “get over it”

Amazon offers free advertising for the Administration's signature initiative, and for some reason the White House regards this as hostile. When I make smart decisions that make the world a better place, I'm usually proud of it, and want the everyone to know about it. So what's different here?

As usual every US economic graph is just another way of telling you when Reagan was elected.

pretty fucking wild to read a story that confirms there *is* an elite cabal of some of the country's wealthiest and most influential people and they *are* coordinating strategy and tactics to try to control global opinion, it's just not any of the the cabals tinfoil hatters have always assumed

This is because they're used to the ethics of televangelists.

My neighbor is a trucker. This idiot had these flags up for a year for all the kids to see. Now the ports are empty I'm thrilled he's going to get what he voted for.......

Shoot this directly into my veins:

Who thinks this is the main thing the political press should be reckoning with and apologizing for over the past year? www.mediaite.com/news/axios-r...

Because there were 17 other pages of more important news. 🤡

The default Dem position should be that nothing under Trump is valid. Trump didn't honor his predecessors' agreements. He didn't even honor his own trade agreements. He didn't honor Congressional appropriations. He doesn't follow laws. Clean slate. If you rely on him, your loss.

Fully on board with dems running for office promising to reinstate fired federal employees and jail this administration’s various criminals, but let’s go ahead and add “we will seize by eminent domain any national parkland sold to developers”

Trump is an extremely stupid person. It really seems like he thinks Putin should want to help him politically. Yeah, dumbass, he wants you in the WH but specifically to destroy NATO and give him Ukraine. He’s not going to stop bombing Ukraine for you. You’re there to hand it to him.

recent polling is just a total repudiation of the idea that full spectrum opposition to trump across every area was/is a bad idea

Let's say Harris won last year and Vance was holding 10k-20k person rallies where he railed against left-wing "oligarchy." Would the CW be that this was crazy and a waste of time? Or would we be seeing NYT op-eds and A1s about what "oligarchy" is and why the GOP base was on fire about it?

Any US government that isn’t completely overhauling the insane monetary inflow can really call itself democratic, right?! Source: buff.ly/3cLk3mr

Maybe federal judges will realize it's time to stop dicking around and time to start throwing people in jail themselves.

Chuck Grassley gets called out at a town hall… "  Stop the use of the word entitlement because it's insulting to all of us." 🔥 #HandsOffMySocialSecurity

I appreciate what this is trying to do but I doubt that he peacefully leaves at the end of his term and I doubt that the rest of the governmental infrastructure can survive until we find out and I don't think "we have to survive 3.5 years and then we'll be fine" is correct politically or morally

I think that Slotkin, Gallego, etc, think they’ve unlocked some cheat code for speaking to voters (winning while trump won the states) when it was entirely up to a bunch of random low-info voters that walked into the polling place, checked the box for trump, and left

Once again, I don't know what anyone has seen since January to make them so confident that the 2026/28 elections will be free, fair, and competitive: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Are “they” in the room with us right now? 😏

A lot of very distinguished people who swore an oath to preserve the Constitution are watching it get cut to pieces.

yes because the beltway media are complicit in all of this

Trump has I think rightly calculated that no amount of fascist atrocities will drive the media to call them fascist atrocities

Walz: If you say you love freedom but you don't believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love is not freedom, it is privilege.

They just pinned these up in the China/Japan locker room:

I will say it again — DEI has always polled well and the idea that it's broadly upopular is wholly the invention of pundits nursing their own grievances and projecting them onto an imagined average American. Many such cases.

unfollowing everyone on linkedin except this guy

🤡

these people hate DEI because they would be unemployable in any system where they couldn’t rely on favoritism and nepotism

"Some officials say U.S. citizens who criticize administration policies could be charged with crimes" I always wondered how mainstream journalism would cover an impending dictatorship here. Now we know.

Children as young as *four* are being put in the position of representing themselves without lawyers/parents present in front of immigration judges in cases that will determine whether they are deported. gothamist.com/news/4-year-...

Why not 100%? 100% sounds cooler.

Elected and appointed officials in America are actually questioning the merits of Due Process. Just needs pointing out where we are. Shocking.

The discourse surrounding the guy who created an AI employee (and immediately felt compelled to sexually harass it) is on FIRE right now, and I'm concerned that everyone's gonna burn out and stop dunking on him way too soon. Please, everyone, pace yourself so we can mock him for the next 5,000 days.

You guys are being so mean to Kristi Noem, but sometimes you have to pay for Dalmatian puppies in cash.

Last week, DHS and Secretary Noem's staff and spokespeople suggested that because Mr. Abrego Garcia had $1,100 in cash on him when arrested outside Home Depot seeking day labor, that was strong evidence that he was a member of MS-13. I guess that raises a similar question about her $3,000.

Sometimes, when I’m afraid I can’t do something, I quietly say to myself, “Pete Hegseth is the Secretary of Defense.”

Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me

Arguing that the gulags are a “distraction” from the economy was always dumb. No one needs to remind you that people you know are out of work, an egg is $12, and you have no money.

I think if Trump announced his coronation ceremony as emperor at national cathedral alito and thomas would support it bsky.app/profile/stev...

fun historical fact: among the core political forces in the development of mass incarceration was the "Victims' Rights Movement". Its first major legislative national legislative victory was under President Reagan. The prison population doubled under his administration.

In a piece for The Atlantic, the Russian chess grandmaster Gary Kasparov writes about how Putin seized power, parallels in with the current state of U.S. politics, and what Americans should do to avoid the same fate. www.theatlantic.com/internationa...
