do you know how depressing it is to say things like "science is good" and "we should have a democracy" and immediately have to clarify that I'm not speaking in my official government capacity

If you couldn't make it to the NYPL you can check out our event here, in which we talk lots of shit about other planets

I was on my dear friend @ayanaeliza.bsky.social 's podcast talking about good stuff (my book), bad stuff (gestures vaguely around), and the best stuff (our planet) ayanaelizabeth.substack.com/p/9-ways-to-...

These @atmosmag excerpts from @drkatemarvel.bsky.social's new book hit hard... 'The future remains uncertain. But I’m sending my children there, and they are never coming back. I think about it every day. And then, I feel.' atmos.earth/the-emotiona...

This is superb. And yes all us climate scientists do have feelings and a conflict of interest, in the sense that everyone we love lives on this planet of ours, so much under threat. All the more reason to take our warnings seriously! I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

And while you're at it, pre-order Peter's magisterial biography of the planet told through its most fascinating molecule harpercollins.com/products/the...

Looking forward to hearing more tonight! peoplesbooktakoma.com/event/human-...

DC climate peeps - I am so excited to be moderating a talk this evening with @drkatemarvel.bsky.social about her phenomenal new book, "Human Nature," which is out today! I hope to see you there. 6p at Peoples Book in Takoma. peoplesbooktakoma.com/event/human-...

"Aren’t researchers supposed to be perfectly objective, unemotional, and neutral about the world we study? I can’t be. I need to declare a conflict of interest regarding Earth: Everyone I love lives here." In her new book, @drkatemarvel.bsky.social explores what it means to be a climate scientist:

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife. While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE. This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

DC folks let’s hang out tonight peoplesbooktakoma.com/event/human-...

You can read the introduction to my book in the wonderful Atmos magazine here: atmos.earth/the-emotiona...

There are some books you just know are going to be good even before you open them. This is one of the them. Ordering my copy today.

It’s publication day for Human Nature!! My baby is out in the world!

Just listened to @drkatemarvel.bsky.social and @ayanaeliza.bsky.social’s fantastic, funny, and insightful podcast today. Excited to get Kate’s book, out today! Podcast link: ayanaelizabeth.substack.com/p/9-ways-to-...

hey did you know that @drkatemarvel.bsky.social wrote a book and it is funny and beautiful. you should read it.

Today's the day! www.nypl.org/events/progr...

The Earth Day protests in 1970 helped force the passage of the Clean Air Act, which has since saved millions of lives and trillions of dollars. Mass action works.

[Exit King.]

Two things are happening. The extreme right is doubling down on terrifying violence. And a democratic coalition for life and decency is mobilizing at a massive scale. Whatever else happens in the US this weekend, the No Kings rallies show where the most powerful political energy is surging.

Increase in methane emissions from fossil fuels has been underestimated. Our new PNAS paper just published today: www.pnas.org/doi/epub/10....

I didn't write the headline, but I do think some truly wild stuff is now on the table and we can't pretend otherwise www.wsj.com/science/envi...

So...

I believe two things deeply: 1. Sending a rover to Mars reflects the best of humanity: thousands of brilliant minds working together to peacefully explore the cosmos and share what they've learned for the benefit of all humankind 2. Mars is trash

We're excited to join @drkatemarvel.bsky.social & others to talk about her beautiful book, Human Nature, and how it feels to live in a changing world. Monday, June 16 at the New York Public Library (& online!): www.csldf.org/event/kate-m...

See you at the New York Public Library on June 16 at 7pm, everyone! We'll make you mad and give you hope: www.nypl.org/events/progr...

For years, I've long said that climate.gov's team of remarkable communicators (& their amazing blogs, which were accessible but did not "dumb down" the science!) was NOAA's best (& most cost effective!) public-facing extreme #weather / #climate education effort to date. This will be a huge loss.
