I just came from attending the War Up Close & the displays of art by children from The Sunflower Dreams Project. Very powerful, visceral experience of the war. I'm so glad I had a chance to experience this exhibit.

Roaring over flaming Berlin through a sky that was filled with death & with the guns in his turret knocked out by flak - Gord Guillet came through one of the historic mass attacks on the German capital & in a letter to his parents describes the terrible experience π«‘

My uncle, who was also a Gord, the same age & in the RCAF, probably flew on the same Lancaster bomber sorties in WW2 with Gordon William Web. His letters home, still as a teen, describing these missions testify that they were indeed the Greatest Generation π«‘
