WSJ EDITORIAL BOARD: “.. We said from the beginning that this North American trade war is the dumbest in history, and we were being kind.” @wsj.com www.wsj.com/opinion/dona...

This Sunday, the whole country needs to spring forward from 1939.

This is nuts! (gift link) "Quite simply and astonishingly, this is dismantling the National Park Service as we know it, ranger by ranger and brick by brick." wapo.st/3FcqtHV

I’m glad to be living in Illinois, with this governor, just now!

The good news is i saved you 60 billion dollars. The bad news is that is a typo i saved you 600 dollars and also your plane is falling out of the sky

so far going anti-woke leads to less money and planes falling out of the sky

Onward! 🌎 National Nature Assessment is too important to die. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/10/c...

Gutting USAID will have a monumental effect on combating climate change. The agency was a key player in renewable energy and disaster protection around the world—until Elon Musk showed up.

Trump will not like this, so please do not share as this may upset him.

A letter to the White House from the United Methodist Council of Bishops, reminding us all of the "spiritual and ethical dimensions" of international aid as "an expression of love and compassion" for the poor and vulnerable.

The Earth had its warmest January on record, despite La Niña conditions in the Pacific Ocean that tend to lower the global temperature. 🧐

"Elon Musk has already shown us that he is the worst President that this country has had." @kenmartin.bsky.social tonight on @maddow.msnbc.com.

I’m glad this guy is my Governor at the moment. It’s good to see some fight from a Democrat!

I’ll be speaking in Charlotte later this month. Open to the public but (free) registration requested.

"All grizzly bears in the Lower 48 United States would be federally managed as a single population under a proposed U.S Fish and Wildlife Service rule released on Wednesday. That DPS, or distinct population segment, would retain the grizzly’s threatened status under the Endangered Species Act...."

Call for Papers: Humanimal 2.0, "The Bible and 'Animal' Others." This virtual conference had a great debut last year and now is returning with keynotes from excellent scholars like Suzanna Millar, David McLain Carr and Brian Fiu Kolia. Submit your proposals now!

This is a great development, though so much more needs to be done.

RIP Wolf 907F, who died earlier this week in Yellowstone. At 11.5 years this alpha female was thought to be the oldest living wolf in the park. I was happy to have seen her in Yellowstone with her pack a few years ago. I also just finished a great new book that profiled her, and I'll link it below.

Some good news in these grim times: "Scientists working with the Wildlife Conservation Society say ... that the successful release of rescued cubs like Boris and Svetlaya may, for the first time, become a viable option for restoring wild tigers to their historical range. (Gift Article)

Some good news in a grim time.

Glad to see this happening, although I hope the new "administration" doesn't stop it. The US is a major market for giraffe parts, unfortunately, and they are disappearing in many parts of Africa.

'"Anything that can be built can be taken down': The largest dam removal in US history is complete – what happens next?"
